Simple as that. If the invite is there, accept it.

But, I would tell Sumlin (in private) he is fired if he loses. If the mighty SEC West Texas A&M Aggies under the brilliant 3 year coach Kevin Sumlin can't beat this specific tu Team then hire ANY coach whose team beat Texas this year. They would love $5MM.

Dude, we'd smash them. No one is going to turn down an invite to a bowl game if we'd matched up with tu. All this talk is just making us sound like a bunch of little pansies.

Where is the Public Announcements by A&M Adimin, A&M Athletic Director and Sumlin specifically saying A&M WILL ACCEPT an invite to play ut if that develops. And a statement that A&M will tell the SEC they want to play tu. Why do they NOT squash all these articles recruits and Alumni are reading????

Because if we beat LSU we will play in a bigger bowl against a better opponent

Why even acknowledge it if there's no substance to it? We've had a policy stated publicly for a long time.

Frankly we don't want to play them, we have the upper hand. That's not a fear based decision, its a strategic advantage that's not worth risking. Pandering to some incensed sips who have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by painting yourself into a corner makes zero sense.

Ignore the peanut gallery.

Maybe because it is the league office's decision?? And we are finally in a conference that values team players?? Slive doesn't even know how many bowl eligible teams the SEC will have, how many make the play-offs and the New Year's Six as selected by the play-off committee??

But, no, you want us to stray off the reservation and be baited into backing our conference commissioner into a corner??

How t-sip of you.

No ****. Everyone just needs to shut the **** up and let the season play out. I'm sick of all this *****ing and moaning. "Sumlin...Spavital...Snyder...don't play tu...." Blah blah blah.

Accept a bowl bid with tu after they agree to a 10 year home-and-home series.

Then, a "pillow fight" between two bad teams doesn't end up being 20 years of bragging rights, and we fill an eyesore of a hole in our September schedule.

If they refuse to sign up, then we don't get accused of ducking tu in a bowl.

Maybe because we have another game with a shot at going 8-4, and no bowl bids have gone out.

This is simply a pre-planned sip propaganda effort to get some recruiting momentum.

NOOOO!!!!

I don't care to play them in a bowl, but if we are matched up so be it, we will crush them, they suck. But under no circumstances do I ever want to see them on our schedule again, They currently have score board, I don't care let them have it for the next 100 years. No one cares about a game played 4 year ago.

And now other sports/news outlets are running with it. They're not checking the source, they're just taking it at face value.

A&M needs to respond to this $%#*. First, point out texas refused to play us the last time we would have met in a bowl. If we want to renew the rivalry, make that a condition (they can't be allowed to lose and demand another meeting in the future, while refusing to play us again in the unlikely event that they win - like they've tried to do in the past). 'Scoreboard' claims don't work when you're too afraid to play us again.

Both teams have lost a lot of players this year, but if we have Myles back we'll beat the tar out of those preening losers.

We wouldn't decline an invitation. The SEC will decide who goes to Texas bowl. If Arky can beat Ole Miss or Mizzou, they'll probably go. One, the hogs would beat down on any big whatever opponent. Two, Arky fans would travel to that game, whereas Ags will have a good crowd at any bowl game.

Besides, Texas doesn't want to play us right now. If we beat them, their recruiting would suffer worse than ours would if we lost. (At the end of the day, we still have Sumlin, a players coach compared to Judge Strong).

Chip Brown is just spewing **** out of his mouth trying to place the blame for the lack of an Aggie - Sip bowl on A&M before bowls are even announced.

Currently there are six SEC teams that are not bowl eligible. Five of those have five wins and chances to attain the sixth.

Ole Miss is currently 8-2, but without Treadwell, have a good shot at losing their last two games against Arky and MissState. They finish 8-4.

Auburn is 7-3, beat Samford, lose to Bama. They are 8-4.

Any of this sinking in yet??

I did say, "if it develops" to take care of all the scenarios you are repeating.

IF, it so happens that tu is the bowl on the table, I think it is not too soon to counter the stories with an OFFICIAL statement that A&M would love to play tu, IF IT DEVELOPS.

Just do not leave it alone because perception is reality to recruits, players, etc.

This forum is mixed on every subject including this. I am saying to grab Headlines. Headlines is all we got because the Team is iffy as a representative. If we counter Headlines, then get another Bowl opponent the tu debate goes on and on. At least get a statement out there.

The game would provide interest in a year where none exists. It would be even up with 2 weak teams. Fair is fair. I hope it happens.

Exactly! Those that are crying to play them are letting them control the narrative. Didn't they say "we'll play them on our terms"? Looks
like some are falling into the old tu trick once again. Ignore their

Realistically, we are looking at playing in the Music City, Belk, Liberty, Russell Athletic, Independence, or Texas Bowls. The Texas Bowl has the highest pay-out of any of that group. The Texas and Alamo Bowls have the #3 and 4 selections from the Big 12, with the Alamo choosing first. From a fan's perspective, I'd rather attend a game in a domed stadium in Houston than an outdoor stadium in a much colder, wetter location. The athletic department would make more money, and more "real' fans would be able to attend the game. Our athletic department should be lobbying for the Texas Bowl, and show everybody that we're not afraid to play "anybody, anywhere". I think the Texas Bowl is our best option.

As usual, the only beneficiary to this match up is the teasips. It would look like we re caving in to their demands and subject to what they want. They aren;t even worth talking about in a bowl conversation.

Right now the sips are benefitting from the perception that we're scared. And if we don't get matched up with them it'll be be because we were to scared, so we had the SEC offices pull strings. We need to quit talking like we're trying to avoid playing them, or that we don't want to play them simply because we're too good to play them. We need to just get ready to curb stomp them and shut them up for good.

The two programs have done a complete 180 over the last several years. As the sips began their descent, they bragged how a 7-5 record meant heads would roll at tu, and scoffed at how we seemed to have unwarranted optimism over a similar record......sound familiar lately? (in reverse, of course).

Back in the day, our best hope to feel good about a less than stellar year was to beat tu at the end of it, which is exactly where they are now! This is why I lean toward letting them simply twist in the wind. A sip beat-down from TCU and another 6-6 bowl opponent (drawing yawns from viewers) would be awesome.

But....you know what else would be awesome? At a time when pundits from all corners are questioning whether #WRTS or not, our own beat-down of the sips would be like branding it right into their f'n skull, and that's something I can get behind.

Bottom line is that we want to go where it will best benefit our program moving forward, sip matchup or no. Meanwhile, we don't lobby for anything; let the chihuahua in the fight do the yapping while we let the season play out and consider all options.

This great. So the sips are angling to play an SEC opponent in a bowl game. Let 'em have it. Whether it is us or someone else, they will get their asses handed to them. Arkansas is(will be) the logical choice. Guarantee that the Hogs would love hand them their ass. The Arky defense will shut the sip's great offense down. It just might happen.
