But this fanbase is not into patience. I do think he needs to make changes in either schemes or coaches, but the future is being molded out there right now.
This is year three. Regardless of what JFF and crew did the first two years, year three is the year a new coach should start being evaluated. His recruits are upperclassmen now and he's had plenty of time to get his system in place. It's also not like the cupboard was bare either.

I'm not so sure I like what I see in year three under Sumlin. I still think Sumlin is a good coach and can bre great but there had better be some marked improvement in year four or I'll jump to the group calling for a change. Marked improvement means winning a majority of our home games(I don't expect a win vs Bama next year), no blowout losses(at least competitive in losses), and double digit wins with a bowl win.

I'm realistic and don't expect an MNC every season but I do expect a consistent top 10 competitor each year starting with year three. Hell, maybe that's still too much to expect.

Like with any leader, a lot of your success results from your hires...his lack of success is a direct correlation to a DC whiff after striking out on Narduzzi and having no backup plan, along with bringing an offensive staff with no experience along for the ride (and making a hire to lead that offense a year or two later who also has no experience).

You don't lose control of the team like he's done in year 3 if you're a great coach; especially one deserving of a $5M/year salary. Maybe he'll get there eventually, but we're a long way from there right now.

The coach that JOHNNY built has also lost Daylon, Malik, et al because of the DC and OC he has kept around all season.

All of our playmakers are freshmen. This should tell you how bare the cupboard has been. You can look at it(like most of the imbeciles in here do) like we are terrible and all the coaches need to be fired, or you can look at it like, gee, are we the first ever team in the SEC West to go 7-4, playing an overabundance of freshmen?

Even an idiot like Mussburger mentioned, multiple times, how thin our ranks are(injuries) and how many true freshmen are playing.

1. I do not think he is a coach or a developer of talent. He and his staff maybe recruiters...maybe.

2. If they are recruiters, they seem content to rely on someone else's assessment of talent. TCU and Baylor recruit from the same pool. If a ball gets any where near their receivers it is caught. I know our recruiters are not good judges of character. I now am leaning towards the fact that they are not good judges of talent.
3. You do realize that next year Devante "the butterfly" Harris will be one of the most experienced defensive backs in the SEC. He was a five star recruit. He has never developed. Actually, he is worst now than he was as a fish. We do not develop players.
4. A&M is an institution running from its heritage. I have more in common with Bama's team than this one. It quits. Kinda regret that bigass stadium. 70,000 in and 80,000 stadium looks better than 70,000 in a 100,000 stadium.
5. My first Aggie Game was the Bear has to go home to mama in Houston. Seen a lot of games. Never have I seen so much quit on one team.....except Speedy.

the #1 thing Sumlin has to do is stop the attrition in the recruiting classes. Plain and simple. The Ags cannot keep trotting out "talented" 18 and 19-year olds to play against 21 and 22-year olds.

the classic example is the 2012 team on defense. Nealy, Stewart, Porter, Terrell, Harris --- they were not very good as freshmen and sophomores, but by their senior year they were all good solid smarter players. Not necessarily all-conference caliber, but adequate starters on a top 50 SEC defense

statement is irrational. Sherman had a 1st round qb and the same group of upperclassmen that Sumlin (and Snyder) had success with.

This is right. And this is why we're consistently young. We keep losing too many players.

He gets paid a fair sum for someone who has never won a conference championship as a HC.

it is about winning! if a coach does not win at 5 mil salary, a new stadium, greatest facilities, good recruiting and good supportive fans. he is gone even if his name is Sumlin! no one likes
Sumlin anymore than me but the above are the requirements of the job as head coach! the same for his assistants!
