I wondering if expanding the stadium so big may have been a mistake. Look how many people no showed or left early last night for a HUGE game. What will it be like if we have a down year?
I think part of the problem is that college station just isn't big enough to accommodate this many people so they have to drive home to hou/Dallas/ SA. That and HD tv's make me concerned

The problem was not the fans, it was ****ty team on the field.

Good thing it won't hold 110K for long... we're going to reduce it to 102K for next season... just in case, I suppose.

I think the excuse is that our fans are young like our team.

Ah yes, the facilities were terrible for decades and now A&M gets the stadium for the future and someone has to gripe about it.

Are you kidding me? Part of the issue was the 8:00 KO (I didn't get home until 2:00AM, Sunday due to cleaning up after tailgate, but that is my choice). Do you know how many AD's in this country would give their left nut (or right boob as the case may be) with a problem like a stadium that can seat 106000? Look at DKR: seats 101000, yet they are selling on top of 88000/game right now; that is 13000 empty seats that aren't producing revenue. On the other hand, we are at 106000 listed capacity and you cant get tickets. What a problem to have!

As for the quality of the football, I said earlier this year the best we were going to do was 6-6 or 7-5 and some minor bowl and yet with a crappy assed record as to where we are we had 110000+!

Did you just fall out of bed?

That's part of my concern. We have to maintain this as well so if we have down years and aren't filling this up it will go into disrepair and become a financial anchor. Everything goes in cycles

Don't forget: the season ticket holders are paying for this stadium. There is no debt to speak of and the stadium wont fall into disrepair.

Monarch you pretty much made my point using the sip example. It wasn't long ago they were selling out every game.

And if 8 pm is a problem then that's even more of a concern

You can improve a stadium without expanding it. This is a program that 3-4 years ago had 10-15 thousand empty seats in an 82k stadium. A heisman trophy and cotton Bowl victory later we feel the need to expand to 102k? Very premature IMO

Exactly. Let's hope it works out

They heard about your concerns and have reduced the seating to 102,000 for next season. Thank you for your contribution.

My advice, darlin' ? Worry about Ebola. It is much more contemporary a concern than Kyle Field ten years from now.

That's ok. During the down years we can get a tarp !

If you had read even a few of the articles about this renovation and expansion, you'd know that none of your concerns are valid, but instead you simply sound foolish. There is no danger of this facility losing money.

Yes..but you think 110k are going to keep showing up if we go 7-5 this year, 8-4 next year, 7-5 year after...no. It's easy to fill a new stadium in year one even with a very average product on the field. Couple more years like this though and we will be in the same boat Texas is in right now, 15k empty seats a game

SEC fans travel. Baylor can't get more than a few hundred to go ninety miles. And forget about Kansas, KSU, and Iowa State fans. That is tu's problem. Crappy games.

Are you saying we didn't have games with 10-15K empty seats? If so you are dead wrong.

It has been years since Kyle Field had less than 70,000 in attendance.

2014 - 106,409
2013 - 87,125
2012 - 87,014
2011 - 87,183
2010 - 82,477
2009 - 76,800
2008 - 82,193
2007 - 82,207

The lowest attendance for any of those years was 72,530. Every game since November 2010 has been a sellout (except for a couple of 104,000 attendance games this year).

The stadium was great, but college station needs to use some of the tax revenue football weekends generate to make significant infrastructure improvements to alleviate traffic on game days.

Sound system at this point sucks. Better be way better next year, team too. Canon barely audible, even on the SE tower roof. More charge. Insufficient handicap access to the south end. Need a big board on top of the north end also,
