Reginald – You are a little late already with the pump fake thought. They ran it to perfection during their first drive of the second quarter. After gashing South Carolina for 11 yards on the first play of the series, the Aggies came out in Trips right.
Malcolm is lined up in the slot, RSJ is the Z, and Josh Reynolds is lined up as the X. Speedy is lined up on the opposite side of the formation.
Kenny finds Malcolm for the easy completion, and due to great downfield blocking by RSJ and Reynolds we able pick up 11 yards and another first down.
The very next play we are lined up in the exact same formation, just flipped to the other side.
Not only do we run the same formation, we run the exact same play and pick up 6 yards. I believe with a better throw this play would have been as successful as the first.
Here we are again, back in trips right. This is where the coaches decide to catch South Carolina biting on the route.
Everything appears to be normal for the LB #9. Kenny’s shoulders are completely turned like he’s about to throw a 3rd pass to Malcolm. RSJ does a great job of appearing to engage #9 on South Carolina for the block.
The pump fake has taken place and #9 now realizes he’s dead. RSJ plants his right foot and jumps inside the linebacker.
From here Kenny hits RSJ and he turns it up-field for a 16 yard gain.
There was never an eye-popping throw or an amazing catch, but this sequence shows how effective the Aggie offense is doing the simple things. 3 plays, 33 yards, and one confused group of South Carolina linebackers.
