Manziel was a champion on the field. Off the field.....not so much. He was always contrite, objective, and apologetic about his behavior upon reflection, but never seemed to change it.

1) in college and nfl - he won no championships of any type

2) all that contritness etc means nothing if you don't act on it.


I agree it was low class of smart. I agree JFF was a great player and I loved watching him - he was great for this university. However - he floundered his nfl career.

He seems to have his head on straight now, and I'm happy for him.

Kirby said that all 4 of the Heisman winning quarterbacks in question (Burrow, Cam, Bryce, and JFF) had great days against Georgia's defense. He just took exception to all 4 being champions in response to some attendee's comment at the clinic.

That's what they said this morning on Dusty/Danny. They said he meant it more as a joke and that even JFF would have probably laughed.

There is not enough there to really tell but it sounds like he was trying to make the point that they all did well against his team? It's fine to say he never won a championship but calling him the fireball champ was a cheap shot. His champs are not all choir boys, you can be sure of that.

Eff off Smart…if he's saying this at his camp, he's implicitly negatively recruiting vs A&M (someone find a list of his camp participants and see who he's trying to affect).

Yes, Johnny could have been better w less beverages, womanizing and guess whatever else he's been accused. But still had a winner's attitude and willed a few wins here (w some top notch players at several positions who also kept him in check at times).

Johnny also had a HC who seemed to have some issues imbibing and a OC (KK) who was busy chasing co-eds in his spare time. Point, while some good role models on staff, plenty of not so good role models (irony is thick).

The friends, family, coaches and hangers on that enabled Johnny truly ruined him.

Johnny Manziel did not win even SEC West division title. I agree that this was an unnecessary cheap shot by Kriby Smart. Johnny Manziel is the greatest ever Texas A&M football player. He single-handedly transformed Texas A&M from an SEC newcomer to a national powerhouse and prompted an influx of funds from donors for the Kyle Field rebuild. However, Manziel became an NFL bust because he never watched a second of tape to prepare for NFL games.

dont really care what kirby smart had to say. he is a great coach, but matters zero in the big picture.


JFF was absolutely a champion. you could not hold the guy down. he had a lot of great players surrounding him that all fed off of each other.
