I'm a huge fan of the new logo with the state outline behind the aTm. I think it's unique and helps people around the country/world identify us with the State of Texas.

The original ATM logo was first used on our football helmets in 1965. Ask Billy Pickard...

Yes, Sherrill put it on the helmets. I don't know if he developed it, but hats off to him or whoever did. It was also smaller than in later years, which personally I liked (and like) much better. Just groovier; that's all.

My all time favorites:

First time I remember seeing the aTm logo on helmets was during the 60's during the Stallings era. It looked a little different, thinner, but it was aTm.

Also, I do not think the aTm inside a Texas outline is good. We do not need to identify with the state of Texas. The state of Texas needs to identify with Texas A&M.

And, the bevel sucks. Obviously the idea of some woman.

Stallings designed it and in 1967 I personally heard him say so. I had never seen the ATM design before that time. He gave a ring to each of his graduating players that had a large square synthetic ruby with a white ivory ATM on it. Inside the band was inscribed "To X from Gene Stallings." Certain people on campus tried to stop him from giving the ring, claiming that it would "take the place of the Aggie Ring." That didn't work!
