Our tailgating isn't great. Gameday atmosphere is, but not actually our tailgating

we are overrated. We have massive amounts of tailgating and really good tailgating but it's all so spread out that it takes away from the atmosphere.

Still feeling the effects of the gray hairs getting their way. Moving fraternities out of Spence and ridding the park of generators killed it for a good while. It is slowly gaining steam again. Why anyone would run off music and hot tail in a concentrated area right next to the stadium is beyond me.

We do our best job to blast music and have a good time but we still get looks from Old Ags who think tailgating should be an "indoor voices" event.

Agree with what Bunk said, our tailgating is too spread out!

I'm not really an old grey hair, but I've never understood the millennial's idea that everyone wants to listen to their music.

I guess it goes along with "twitter" and "selfies". We're all supposed to care what you are doing all the time.

We may be too spread out but The Grove is too cramped. Judging by that Id say we have a fair ranking.

Clemson has to be in there.

Funny how this article actually says nothing about tailgating, just about the things to do and overall atmosphere before the game.
As said above, tailgating is about what each group of fans makes of it (ie. drinks, eats, does for fun). Pointless to compare.

Pretty much every conversation we have here could be summed up in your last paragraph.

All I can think is how much tailgating has emerged since I was at A&M. I never remember anything resembling the current tailgating atmosphere at A&M from "my day." Back then, as now, LSU was one of the preeminent gates in the country.

It's all so arbitrary and - face it - Bleacher Report. I love our tailgating, because I have kinship with the tailgaters. The rest is smoke and mirrors.

So - yes - I accept that ranking. And don't care...I love gameday.

Before I even opened it, I said to myself, "Self," I said, "I bet it's a Bleacher Report article."

I think there should be two simple rules for BR:

1) if it's a homer piece written by an Ag (or SEC brethren) and it paints our team/players in a good light then folks shouldn't get too excited to get positive "media attention."
2) if it's a homer piece written by a new or old rival and it bashes the Ags, folks shouldn't get too mad and say the "media" is out to get us.

This is neither... Written by an Arizona grad who allegedly does some legitimate writing outside of the glorified blog that is BR. It passes.

Been to ole miss the past two years. Grove to me is over rated.

I hate twitter and selfies, but you think it's odd that people want to listen to music they like in a party type of atmosphere? I don't party or tailgate, and it makes sense to me that music would be commonplace

I've been to an ole miss game a few years back. The grove was cool and all, women were hot but eating A meal of KFC on what was suppose to be a linen lined table was different.

Maybe they are ranking The Tailgate from GBH at #4?

Older people have always complained about the volume of younger people's music. This isn't some new phenomenon with millenials.

I set up a tailgate each week for me and whoever I bring to the game. I don't mind hearing others play their music, but I would like to hear what my fellow tailgater is saying without him or her having to shout! When people are respectful of others, it makes for a great opportunity to have fun and everyone enjoys it. It only takes one or two bad apples that are selfish enough to put themselves above all others and ruin it for everyone else.

Party on!

Tailgating is over-rated.

I've really grown accustomed to sitting in a pitch dark room by myself with beats by dre blaring metalcore for a solid 2 hours as my pregame ritual.

Why are we talking about Clemson and Notre Dame? We're talking bout SEC football.

my .02 would put us around 5-7.
LSU, Ole Miss, Bama, Arkansas (when they are winning), and I am sure the Cocks have a good tailgate.

We are not a big tailgating school, yet. LSU, Ole Miss, Clemson, Alabama, UGA and Auburn are all bigger than us. I mention Clemson because when we went out there a few years ago, they blew us away.

Our tailgating scene has some issues that the powers that be need to address. First of all, we need priority tailgating spots. This will help folks guarantee their spot so they don't rush up there the morning of Gameday only to find that someone that doesn't even have tickets is camped out in the spot you've been in for years. It would also help promote a more family friendly environment. Second, the DJs and loud music need to be regulated. I like tunes at my tailgate as much as the next person. We also like to watch other games. If your neighbor's music is so loud that I can't talk to my wife about "if the fajitas look done or not" then your music is too loud. Again, priority tailgating would fix this.

We have a ways to go.

This. If your music is so loud from 50 feet away that I can't hear my TV or music from 4 feet away, your music is too loud.

The Vols have there own navy.....adds a certain flair that no one else has. As for A&M we are spread out but that is because there are so many and all want their friends to join them as well as any one else just walking by. There has always been a strong contigent of tailgaters....I am class of '74 and there were actually classmates who delayed graduation, took 12 hours of poofy b/s courses in the fall and partied thru December when reality hit them in the face......Job? What's a job interview?
