I guess my question on the accuser "breaking contact" with the police is whether or not the timeframe for that is consistent with the accuser's lawyer allegedly being told by the lead detective that "If she pursues the case she could get in a lot of trouble as this is a football town".

Thank you for putting words in my mouth... but NO WHERE above did I say Winston was 100% guilty, in fact, most of my disgust has been directed at the justice system that has "handled" the matter. As well as the ignorant people that are trying to defend Winston without bothering to research the facts.

To be honest, I truly don't give a **** if I'm a "Richard" at a later date. I'm going to error on the safe side, and this investigation was completely botched (already established as fact) from the start. Jameis Winston and his friends are scum bags (based on their own testimonies) and there testimonies should be irrelevant to the case proceeding. They've hid behind lawyers and hindered justice from day 1.

BAGAAG's logic and reasoning skills are funny to watch. I'm sort of on the fence about what really happened that night and whether or not Jameis actually did it. But I certainly don't want BAGAAG trying to make any arguments for me.

Athletes like jameis are all too common. They get what they want, period. Even if they have to take it. He probably thought he was doing her a favor, she had the privilege of being screwed by a big football star, lucky her.

His roommate revealing that they share women makes it that much more obvious. They like to bang chicks for fun, and I would bet money that when they see one they really want, they're not above giving them a rufi to speed the process along.

I would also bet there are a few more victims that will never be heard from, and this "lesson" will teach jameis that he's above the law.

Snowdog is right in principle, Winston may or may not be guilty of rape, but he is guilty of being a scumbag by his own admission.

I had a roommate in college who played football and was exposed to the football culture. Snowdog's assessment is spot-on, not condemning everyone by any means but that attitude was very prevalent.

These kids egos are constantly fed starting when they are very young, and many of them start to believe the hype, that they are above the law and untouchable.

This is a problem with college football athletes across the country (even for us) so you can't really single FSU out. Unfortunately I don't see it changing unless they start being held accountable for their actions.

People, he had sex in front of other people. Why discuss anything further. And notice the media and espn are singing his praises now. He is a hero for the ages. Another cam newton. I guess the young folks might be used to sex in front of lots of people but I am not. The decline of morality is in full social acceptance.

Heisman voters need to read the police report and investigation. FSU alum was the state attorney who made the decision. Travesty of justice. What an embarrassment if this guy wins the award.

Agreed, make an example of him (assuming he gets tried and convicted).

A high profile player like him getting the book thrown at him could make a statement to the rest of the college football world that players will not get special treatment and will be held accountable for their actions.

Did anyone else read Tim Cowlishaw's column in the Dallas Morning News today? In summary, he believes it is progress that a black man was not indicated for rape. Of course, he doesn't really discuss that this particular black man is on one of the top football teams in the country, and is having different rules being applied to him than if he were an 'average' guy in Florida. Appalling!

First off let me be straight forward and state that I think the case should have gone to a JG. My sense from all the statements and from thinking who had what to gain when making statements that the girl was in fact raped and DNA points to JW. I believe it was printed early on that the lead investigator told the victim she should seriously consider whether or not to continue or file charges because it could get very bad for her.......or something to that effect which most likely explains why she put the brakes on during the spring. Who among us has the courage to keep fighting when the very people we are supposed to trust to protect us threatens us. Perhaps me, but I'm bull headed that way! I promise I heard enough that if she was my daughter that line in the movie"tell them I'm coming and hells coming with me" would sound like a hallmark greeting when I got done with him!

Im in the "he did it" camp but, those of you saying the girls credibility is good based on the fact that Winston was a nobody and therefore there is no motive are not exactly accurate.

Winston was a star baseball player last year. I personally witnessed him signing autographs after a game in the first round of the play-offs at FSU. Of course, that has no bearing on the facts that point to a rape.

From my perspective, all the facts point to him doing it. His friend trying to get in on it and video taping it paints a very clear picture of the type of people we are dealing with.

Too many pieces of the puzzle fit into place for me to think otherwise, not that my opinion matters. The media chooses how they are going to spin stories and mold public perception. In this case they have chosen to portray him as an upstanding young man falsely accused of a horrendous crime and worthy of the Heisman.

However, if you are a white quarterback who has a little fun in the off-season and does what virtually all other college students do, you get crucified and do not exemplify the qualities of integrity becoming of a Heisman winner. You can bring up the whole signature fiasco but even if he did it he did not break any laws.

Winston is a punk kid who should have gone to trial. If he is innocent, let the evidence show it and exonerate him.

It should've at least gone to trial I don't give an eff what the AG thinks as he appears to be a complete idiot. Let him be proven guilty or innocent in a court of law. In the very least that should've happened.

Federal charges can be brought at any time. There is no requirement that state charges go first. The feds often times will wait to see if state charges bring justice before filing their own. As for whether the accuser's (federal) civil rights were violated, the most common charge would require the crime to be committed against her due to her race. That is doubtful in this case. You may recall the feds in the Zimmerman case trying to figure out whether a racial slur was uttered during the 911 call. It could not be determined, dooming any federal civil rights charges.
