I'm guessing that TMZ was tipped off by the same rogue Bama alum who tried to sell them pictures of Johnny signing stuff. The guy's a lawyer. He's probably known about it for awhile. Once it looked like FSU was going to be an obstacle for both the MNC and the Heisman, he decided the time was right.

One question: Why would there be a coverup for a player that was at the time an unknown nobody and probably was still competing for a chance to get on the field? Winston was "a" FSU backup last year, a redshirted fish, right? How would anyone know he'd be a very good starter this year? Even if it took a few months to unfold, that's still well before the beginning of this season....

I'm guessing it was someone in the victim's camp fed up that the investigation isn't going anywhere.

When coach Jimbo Fisher came on XM radio this afternoon, that topic was quickly addressed by Jack Arute. Fisher said very quickly and tersely " no comment"
