That pretty much nails it. Left asscheek is already wet due to the first push (not on video). After the second push, he lands more on his right asscheek and it gets wet in the same manner.

They did not spell SMU all at once. They dove on the ground as an S, then jumped up and dove into a M, and then into a U.

Maybe the jumping into formation on the ground is what those saw from afar.

Here's my memory

Cheerleaders ran out on the field jumping into the S, then M, then U drill.

Hood ran out. Sabre got drawn on the way.

Hood kicked cheerleader on the ground.

Different cheerleader pushed him over.

Cop intervened. It was over. Hood was escorted out.

Maybe Cannon ran in and intevened, too. Don't recall that part.

I say Hood fell to the ground once and it is the fall in the video. No cheerleader crawling around behind him to trip him up.

I did not read through all of this, but nothing tops the Nebraska fan that got knocked out for rushing the field. You would have thought it was Failor that beat us late the way they rushed the field.

He got his ass kicked twice? Hilarious.

He was pushed over twice on a wet field. Once over the back of a sneaky dude on all fours and a second time due to boots with notoriously slick bottoms.

That was not a great day for the Corps or the football team. The job of the ODs back then was to help prevent people from running onto the field. In the fall of 1979 at the tu game, the Aggie Band was running off Kyle Field, having just completed their halftime show.

As they ran off, a group of fish cadets emerged from behind the bleachers in the SE corner and ran to the middle of Kyle Field. Once they arrived, they did their outfit hump-it, and then dispersed in 20 different directions. The ODs gave chase, but no one was caught. The ODs then returned to mid-field where the cadets had deposited the footlocker of their CO.

The ODs did a great job that day (no one got hurt) and the Aggies beat tu.

Anyone else remember that little stunt?

FBCoach:

The cadet that nailed the Nebraska fan was one of my fish, he was OD for that game. He had some weak community service as a result, but got to watch the security video of the incident...said the guy hit the ground like a mullet (as a result of his left hook). I always bring it up at the Chicken when I'm there with him, free pitchers come from all around. The class below him ended up giving him the nickname 'Kornhusker'

Dumbass. Still an embarrassment to Texas A&M, 30+years later.

I was there but realize I may have forgotten details over the intervening 35 years.

I do remember Greg Hood was a pompous d-bag.

I also thought Billy Cannon Jr ended the fight by bear hugging Greg on his way out to return the ensuing kick off.

For the benefit of all you Ags who weren't required to memorize campo, this is what we were taught:

Q: How are the 55 Aggies who served in World War I and died on active duty commemorated?

A: Fifty-five flags fly over Kyle Field at each football game, there is a granite memorial located at the West Gate, and their names are on the plaques in the entrance to the Memorial Student Center.

Now, I haven't been back to campus since the stadium was completed and the MSC renovation has been completed, so I don't know if all the above still holds true. But that's what we were taught back in the day.

I was reading thru this thread and remembering the game. I was on the Former Student side and we were getting beat by SMU. I got some give away tickets at the last minute. I think they were undefeated or close to it that year.

I remember the incident as most described it. I remember the Batt posting the picture above and the sword was drawn after SMU got cocky with the OD. It had the crowd moving in toward the field. My side moved about 4 rows forward about to rush on the field if it went much further. Utter BS by the SMU cheer idiots.

I went away from that game thinking SMU had the most arrogant fans around, worse than sips. Million cars in town that day with bumper stickers, "Miracle Mavericks" or something like that.

Kyle Field is not a memorial.
This is true. But the 55 flags that fly on top of the stadium are in remembrance of the 55 cadets who lost their lives in the Great War (WWI).

But the stadium itself has never been dedicated as a memorial.

This incident was not as embarrassing as the 1995 riot against t.u. There were cadets punching girls in the stomach in that one.

Could you imagine if that happened today? With all our silly "zero tolerance" crap?

No way he would ever be allowed back in probably any college in the nation. It's sad how silly we have become.

Then, on top of that, with 24 hour ESPN needing to fill airtime, it would be on the air nonstop for years.

A backup Cleveland Browns QB's girlfriend is drunk and gets stopped by a cop and it gets more coverage than D day did.
