It will no doubt look nice.

But I am actually disappointed in the fact that yall are just covering everything up, on the front faade, including the walkways to the top of the stadium. Everything else seems to be done in a first class way.

And yes it will be wretchedly hot in there in September.

oh and I am still convinced that yall are not finished before your first home game.

Please do not move the bama game to Reliant stadium. Their field sucks and I don't want our players getting hurt.

roll tide and congrats on your stadium.

The zone (the portion getting "covered up" is only 15 years old. The structure is completely sound, so anything beyond a simple re-facing of the exterior would be a waste of money.

In where? I'm not sure who started the rumors that the 'covered up' ramps from zone are for egress. Show me the doors we are to use on the bottom?

Gibbs, can you get close shots of the bottom of the zone ramps - from what i see in your earlier pictures is a lack of exit doors...

There's a set of doors (or will be once they're installed) on both of the old ramps, facing the center of the stadium.

There hasn't a been a clear shot posted, with all of the equipment and fence in the way.

Cleanest photo I could find that's already been posted.

I don't think that heat, in the Zone ramps, will be a problem.. The framework for the brick panels is set far enough away, from the ramps, to allow for heat to escape. The ramps will be in perpetual shade, so they will not absorb heat during the daytime.

Looks like a good place for storage if you ask me. I can't imagine that they would box in the ramps and use them for people.

...and that's a tiny door compared to the width of the ramps. Would be a nightmare at that bottleneck.

Relax... There are escalators in the towers right next to the ramps. They will probably just be used by the 4 wheelers to carry stuff to concession stand and for emergency egress.

was the NE ramp used last year? (in NY and didnt make it down)

I'm sure the NW ramp was...but if the NE ramps were not used and they only used the NE activation tower why would they all of a sudden use both activation towers and both ramps?
just wondering

There are three sets of double doors the width of the ramp exit...

Fitch, your photo set on pg 93. ninth picture from the bottom shows a set of stairs that look to be enclosed. So if they have those stairs as well as the activation towers...I guess I do not see the necessity of the ramps for egress. you know the most about what is going on...so I'm just picking your brain a bit

I hadn't looking at this thread is a long time. Our stadium is going to kick ass.

This is totally speculative, but given what I've seen of the new additions and the existing ramps, my thought is that those stairs are specifically for the 3rd deck of the NEZ egress.

As it's setup now, the northern activation towers don't connect well with the NEZ, with the NE tower connecting to the upper deck of the NEZ only via a narrow walkway on the field side and not at all to the concourse under the deck. What I think will end up happening is the concourse from the activation towers will be extended and ramped down to the NEZ concourse by going over the existing ramps.

The issue that creates is a ramp from the activation tower to the concourse in the opposite direction of the existing ramp spiral. In the case of the NE ramp, the corkscrew is counter clockwise traveling up, but the activation tower is higher than the zone concourse so it would have to corkscrew down in the counter clockwise direction. That would create a dead end for the upper section of the existing ramp and make it inaccessible from the upper deck of the zone.

The ramp would still connect at all other parts of the NEZ, and would provide egress to those areas, leaving the 3rd deck of the zone to be serviced by the stairs you mentioned between the activation tower and the existing ramp.

The reason I've been so persistent in saying that they'll be for egress isn't based off insider info, it's a logical conclusion to the way the doors are oriented (facing inward to hide them which creates a bottleneck) and the lack of any entrance or access portal identification. I may be completely wrong about all of it, but that's my best guess given everything I've seen. It's admittedly something that's stumped me for a while.

Thanks, Fitch

I can definitely understand. I went to the game at Arkansas and they have egress stairs also that are completely enclosed. granted, it was about 50 and raining which is different than 100+.

we'll find out soon enough

Good pics. Since there are no obvious places for ticket takers they maybe just post game exits. Regardless, the more entry points and exit the better.

Hopefully someone can answer a question for me.

From the construction webcams, I can see they have erected a bunch of steel. However, it stops well short of the existing north side structure. I keep waiting for them to fill this gap in, but they never do. It's driving me nuts.

Can I assume they will build most of the structure first, and they are leaving the gap until the very last so they can remove the cranes and equipment from the field through the gap?

Thanks.

The plans don't line up. They'll have to leave that gap.

Based off last year, they'll start filling it in when the NW tower is being built. The two structures should be tied in together, so in a few weeks it'll start filling in.

So they haven't started the NW tower yet? Doesn't appear so from the pictures posted online.

And to those you posting pictures, thank you. They did a good job of posting weekly updates on kylefield.com last year, but don't seem to be doing so this time around.

Entry isn't bad at all unless you get there right before the game. But exits are the problem since everyone generally leaves at the same time.

I'm with you, I stay away from the exit, I know some on here my prefer it, but it's not my thing.

Thanks for the update, Gibbs! It's hard to know since there's not a construction cam for the zone. Appreciate your pictures as well. Have a good weekend, all!
