Because there were so many questions about the crane last time I stopped, I figured I'd snap a few of the crane.

That is a crawler crane with a luffing boom jib on it. Biggie is a good description - I'd say that's a lot more than a 110 ton capacity. Probably closer to the 250 ton range. Usually the weight is not needed, but the reach and/or capacity at the end of the load chart.

The counter weights on back add up to 110. It also has 2 peices of the main crawler that are 14.5t each.

The counterweights may add up to 110, but that doesn't mean the crane is a 110 ton lift capacity. That rig is way bigger than my 110.

Here's a random question and I'm curious if anyone here can answer it. Looking at the east side, the ramps are structurally tied into the structure. I'm assuming that those are demolished with the new towers going up in the corners. How are those going to be removed without damaging the vertical supports for the existing second and third decks?

VERY carefully - with science.

Anyone know the need for the stairwells at the north end of the second deck? Are they used for crowds before/after games or another purpose? I don't remember seeing them the last 10 or so years.

The solar panels have been removed from the old weight room. not sure if any of yous have noticed. And all the championshio letters and dates are gone.

The crane is a Liebherr LR 1300 (300 metric tonne / 330 US ton) crane. Biggie is the crane owner, and has either been brought in as a subcontractor to supply/operate cranes, or is just hiring the crane out. They have quite a large fleet of big cranes.

As was noted earlier, this one is configured with a luffing jib, and in its current configuration can likely lift a maximum of 50-60 tons at a radius in the neighborhood of 60'-80'.

This crane would also be capable of lifting 10-15 tons at a radius in excess of 200'.

Walked by the south east corner today and found out that they've already started construction over there. It appears that they're cutting out multiple of those squares and that crane in the background was drilling down into the ground. Not sure what they're going to do Saturday since this is normally a game day entrance
