I was in favor of the "Colossus of Gill" so the actual product is disappointing. It seemed like it'd be a great wide shot for t.v., but it's mostly hidden behind a tree with that view. They'll just have to get closer up for a shot so no big deal, but they really could have just used the old one.

Ok. I know I'll probably leave out half of the info I want to include in this, but I'll add it on as I think of it.

First of all, most of my information came from Mr. Robert Hogan, who is the sculptor of both the EKG statue and the yell leader statue. He originally made a statue of EKG for a 12th man foundation auction (I believe last year or the year before), which is why they asked him to do this one. Scale of 2:1, and is 1700 lbs. He also made the Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell statues in front of Minute Maid, and I believe he said that Drayton Mclane's son is prety high up working for the foundation, so that's part of the connection.

Yell leader statue will be going somewhere over by the east entrance. It originally started off as a specific yell leader, but then became just a general one. I tried to get a picture of the writing at the base of it, but it didn't come out very well. I believe pretty much what it said was Texas A&M yell leader, and a date on it, and one other thing.

Spirit of '02 and the 105 are both on a platform by the southeast tower. Imagine a smaller scale of what EKG is on, and that'll probably be what it is. The platform isn't complete yet, and it was difficult to tell because there were tons of corps guys and construction workers doing stuff around it.

All statues (I'm not sure about the core values. I was a little unclear if that is going up this year or next year) will be up in time for Lamar. Mr. Hogan said that there will be an unveiling Sep 3. I'm not sure if that's just for EKG or all the statues. By the time I had left, EKG was still wrapped up. I don't know if they're planning on covering the statues until the 3rd or if it'll be more of a ceremonial unveiling, but I'm sure it'll be known pretty soon.

There's 1 American flag flying in the southeast corner. Don't believe it's on a permanent flag pole. There are ropes or cables hanging down from the south endzone. Possibly in preparation to raise banners, but I don't believe that's the case.

I remember when the thread was posted about getting the 105 it said that a guy in Navasota was restoring it and it would not be done until next season. Did I miss an update saying it got done early or is this a different gun/cannon? Is this THE gun/cannon or will it be swapped for the restored one next year?

Either way, the new gun/cannon is awesome. I think it and '02 complement each other very well. One more unique trait of Kyle, TWO cannons, not just one.

This is that same one. And you're correct that it wasn't supposed to be finished until next year. However, with ags being ags, they made sure to have it done for this season

It would be cool to fire it once inside Kyle from the 50 during yell practice the night before first game. However, it is probably too loud and will break people or things.
