I understand that it doesn't look like the design anymore. But, there are still places that can be bricked over.

Pretty cool that you can still see the arches that used to make up the whole outside of Kyle Field.

For a few more months.

Rainbows and goal posts. Such a beautiful sight.

I'll admit, I haven't been paying that much attention since around when they finished knocking down G Rollie White, but the new pictures... I'm not sure which parts of the stadium I'm looking at anymore. It's unrecognizable to someone who has been away from campus for just over a decade.

Really does anyone know where they're moving the Reveille graves? I remember on my first campus tour that was one thing I always thought was really cool. I'd be sad if they moved them away from Kyle.

I believe they're just temporarily moving them while they do construction. I think when they put them back, it'll be a few feet farther north, but honestly, I don't give a damn and didn't pay attention when I was told

Are they leaving the original E King Gill statue up for this season or is it going like reveille graves?

The Rev graves are being temporarily relocated to Cain Park while the north plaza and facade are worked on during this season.

They'll be back.

The War Hymn statue is supposed to go in on Sept. 5. While the EKG statue is slated to be moved to Rudder Fountain with the new statue being revealed, I guess, on the 5th as well.

This is Kyle Field when I first came to know it. The first expansion, only about 20 yards wide, added a pressbox plus additional seating. c. 1950-1967

Visor Guy conspiracy! They have effectively cut off the ability to see the NEZ from 2nd deck east side.

wisdom,

What side was the first partial second deck added to?
ToxicAG

Wisdom, you can still see that deck under the "new" second deck on the West side. It appears that they built over this deck when the larger second decks were added. Goes to show why the entire West side needs to go.

It's true that the original partial second deck still exists on the West side. Does anybody know why? Would it have been structurally significant, or was it a cost-savings measure in the late 60s to avoid demolition?

It was a cost saving measure for sure. BTW, that created the "bat cave"

Along with the NE corner BMA chairback's view of standing students instead of the field, I feel bad for the BMAs that will end up with the back row seats where the wall completely blocks the view of the field. They have a perfect straight on view of behind the end zone, and then a wall when they look left toward the field. Unless that opening is where they're supposed to peek through to see the game.

I wonder if NE corner purchasers realize most of both the 2nd & 3rd NE corner seats face directly far behind the end zone rather than angled. I understand with the way the corners sit and trying to connect the zone with the old east side at a squared off section limits the amount of angle available, but not sure I would have attempted seating there considering the horrid sightlines. At least the SE EZ works much better since there's a new EZ to build to.

Maybe renovation #2 - once the BMAs that forked out the big bucks see their new NE corner Zone club seats - takes out poorly sighted seats & retrofit NE corner Zone club to a restaurant/bar/party deck with field view.

They'll have a nice straight view of the new video board in the NW corner.

They'll be fine.

The original west second deck was built in 1953-1954. It was less expensive to build the current second deck on top of that original deck. The press box from the original second deck was retained and used until the middle of the 1978 season when it was removed in preparation for the construction of the third deck. Yes, there was no press box at Kyle during the last few games of the 1978 season. It was more a long plywood shack running along the top of the second deck.

Those seats will be able to see the entirety of the field with no problems, even while seated.

Just checked out the 3d seating viewer and with the students standing it might be a problem.
