Yikes, I remember of a student that jumped when I was there(96-01) apparently over not doing well on his finals, from a northside parking garage. The next day the Batt had a front page picture of a custodian power washing the sidewalk the student landed on, needless to say the Batt issued an apology a couple days latter

I've known of two people that committed suicide. One was my boss a few years ago, and one was a kid that was a neighbor. The kid did it because he didn't get accepted into tu and his close friends all did. Tragic.

That's not how I remember this going down. What I remember is an editorial was issued saying how they should have apologized, but the editors took a hard line on the journalistic integrity bull**** and said nothing.

I still remember watching the guy from the ground. A campus PD guy was talking him down from on top of the garage and it looked like he was going to back down.

They then cleared most everyone out of the area and he jumped anyways.

Then to follow that up there was the tense moment in that where he was the only Aggie dead during that time period. As the rule goes they don't do silver taps for suicide, and the family was mad, but then someone else fell down drunk from the top of the southside garage so they had one anyways.

I won't say what I do for a living but my line of work is very stressful.

One of these guys killed himself because he caught his "best" friend with his wife. They had 2 or 3 kids

The other had 2 kids. I still don't know why he did it. I do know he had major marital issues because we talked about them a lot. Both were hard workers and everyone was shocked saying "I never thought so-and-so would do something like that"

We had another person kill themselves just hours before person #1 committed suicide but they didn't work directly for us

Whoa. I was in one of his classes.

Jumping on campus is a statement, lots of ways to do something like that, and he wanted to University to see it.

T&P for his family. He was a pretty good prof. Had him for Rhetoric, and he made what is a pretty dull subject at least palatable. He was extremely smart

I recall guy being so drunk he fell out of the 3rd floor of Hart Hall and landed on his back on grass. To my amazement he slowly got up and laughed it off.

Really sad for his family and friends- the most selfish thing anyone can do.

This is awful. Absolutely awful.

I've closely known one who attempted it and three who did it. The "strange" thing is, all four were guys you would never think would do such a thing -- great, well liked, hard working folks.

Don't want to turn this into a sermon but, please don't ignore it if there is any kind of sign or hint or plea for help.

And this advice is coming from me who swore I would know what to do "the next time." Then, a friend I saw every day did it. I and everyone else had no idea although in hindsight we thought, "well, maybe when he said this ..."

I guess I still don't have it figured out.

But all four, including the one who was saved, left behind many, many devastated people.
