Didn't Patrick Swayze refer to Johnny Utah as "Johhny Football" in the movie Point Break?

KBTX did a story on the nickname back in September. Basically said name started here in College Station, per high school head coach.

KBTX is wrong. It was first mentioned on Texags when he was playing his senior season and the post was written as if Johnny Football was his established nickname.

A local sports guy at Kens5 San Antonio named Joe Reinagel allegedly called him Johnny Football while doing his Friday night highlights when he was a senior. Joe does not know if he made it up or heard it somewhere else first.

Either way, this is not something that we (aggies or texags) started. We just ran with it.

Yes, well the KBTX story appears to be incomplete, and the coach was possibly not aware that people were using the term pretty early on in his high school career.

To the OP, I don't see any reason why your friend/relative would lie about coming up with the name, but at the link you posted "Johnny Football" is not in actual posts, but in the signature. In many forums like that you can make a post today and change your signature next week/month/year and it will change the signature next to all of your previous posts. With that being the case, it is not proof that he was hsing it in 2009.

Again, maybe I am gullible but I have no reason to not believe the story. I'm just saying the link is not going to be solid proof for the haters.

OP deleted his original post that told the story: a guy named Mark Barnes apparently the coined the term while Manziel was a soph at Tivy.

Could be the same since Mark Barnes was the A&M Recruiting Coordinator, according to a website anyone can edit:

On one of the mega threads, someone posted a PM from MF claiming that he was a contract talent evaluator for the football team, working with his son Clayton, who he claimed worked in the AD.

Please tell me you followed the links on that page to where he claimed to have played football for A&M....and coached for A&M and for the Dallas Cowboys, and where his photo has his head photoshopped on someone else's body....

On a different thread cbarnes16 claimed on a thread to be a Montgomery Bear, which is the high school that Clayton (sports management major) graduated from in 2012

I have always wondered if the person that coined Johnny's nickname was a Yankee fan and liked Don Mattingly.

Mattingly had the nickname "Donnie Baseball", which is pretty darn similar to "johnny Football".

Who the f ck is that lying POS trying to fool?

Who would believe that tub of goo was employed by the Texas A&M University Athletic Department as recruiting coordinator under three different coaches from 2006-2012? Or that he was a member of the Aggie football team? Or a Dallas Cowboy or a powerlifter?

After almost a week later, the levels to which this choad goes to to lie are shocking.
