The sips put it up in a team meeting room. We painted it on our equipment van, counted it on our website, and most of all, put it on the side of Kyle Field. So I should clarify, no other school publicly claims conference titles they didn't win.

The sips took it down quickly after it hit the media. But they had an asterisk

This is embarrassing and Inexcuseable. Just sat down at a bar in fort worth. We are playing our first game in the sec tomorrow. This guy asks why do aggies keep shooting themselves in the peen? All they know is the ticket which has become gospel.

Name one other major university that posts totally fake conference championships on their stadium. You can't because there aren't any.

If UT had put fake conference championships on their stadium all of Aggieville would be whining at the top of their lungs.

Kudos to the Aggies that understand lying isn't ok. The questionable national championships are one thing, but the totally fake conference championships are quite another.

While the team playing in the Big 12 championship game is popularly regarded as the divisional champion, the Big 12 does officially recognize co-champions in football, just like it does in other sports. With that logic, I guess A&M can claim 2 championships in 1998. The South Division Champ & the Big 12 Champ!! I don't agree with this claiming a championship like that but the Big 12 recognizes them. I still can't get over us claiming the Natl Championship in 1919 & 1927. Those are ridiculous.

Maybe A&M thought the Big 12 Championship went to whomever appeared in the galleryfurniture.com or Independence Bowls.

That's kinda my point FYBYOYO.....Alabama and Southern cal claim similar nc's . Did everyone throw a hissy fit when they did the same?

I question why 'one of us' would rip on the NC claims and do it in a disrespectful way.

This is such crap. I really cannot believe there are still people on here rationalizing this garbage. It's a bonehead move that is embarassing to our program. Take these things down.

No they didn't. Don't make stuff up. Texas put it in their private team meeting room with an asterisk for all of about two weeks leading up to the 2009 season as a motivational ploy. A staff member did it. It wasn't meant to be seen publicly. Texas never claimed the conference championship on the stadium wall, the media, the trucks, etc. It was bulletin board stuff. I keep seeing this trotted out as if it's the same and it's not remotely similar.
