Who else is claiming mythical conference championships?

I guess I know now what $Bill meant by "Building Champions." It actually meant waiting a few years and then rewriting history by putting false championships up on buildings.

I can't wait to make it out to Olsen next season and learn that we won the CWS in 2011.

I emailed Justin Moore, associate athletic director for football, this morning. Will be interesting to see his response. I'm not impressed by this one bit.

I am holding out hope that it was an error. IF not...OMG...this is humiliating.

The trend you're thinking of is claiming ancient MNC's when you have a publication or polling service that actually awarded it to you since there was no unanimous method. The trend does not include claiming conference championships in years when you clearly did not win them, and it can be proven that you did not.

It is still counting them as "conference championships" to get to 20. Nobody counts division championships as conference championships. Nobody.

We can't delete all the threads because they are all over the ****ing internet. Every school is talking about this. I heard about it three times from coworkers this morning. Why when the spolight is on us do we insist on letting idiots in the marketing department **** the bed on our behalf?

It's humiliating and they need to be taken down IMMEDIETLY. We should be e-mailing these morons constantly to not embarass us any further.

I came over here to read about it after first hearing about it from a Miss St fan on a different site. The only thing more embarrassing than our performance during most of our time in the Big 12 is getting caught lying about it.

Take it down before the stadium opens tomorrow, explain it away as poor judgement by a low level employee, and hope this nonsense goes away.

That may work for those who work at the university, but for the rest of us, deleting this thread will do nothing. As already pointed out, it is on every other school's message board, and is starting to make the email rounds with those who don't read message boards. They need to be taken down.

Yep. I just got emailed about this, too. I can defend the MNC claiming but the conference championship claims are just stupid. Add something that says "Division Championship" and it would be more accurate but really, don't put that up there because it is ghey. Let's add REAL championships to that wall instead.

Jennifer Martin only knows about the national championships. She knows nothing about the conference championships. Said to contact media relations.

I suspect whomever is responsible for ir was applying a liberal standard used by other schools. In the world of marketing and self promotion this is probably not unusual. I think it's pretty telling that us Ags don't roll that way and would rather not claim or be recognized for something not earned. Put division champs or co-champs and the problem is fixed. The '97 and '10 teams have a lot to be proud of so i wouldn't want to see them come down........just clarified.

I also find it very telling that so many rookie trolls pretending to be 'we' have nothing better to do than be obsessed with us. Take a look at yourselves.

If their are any d-bag sips (I know...redundancy) on here pounding their chest...you are the idiots that started this crap back in 2008.

Keep e-mailing the athletic department. As long as my inbox is being filled with ridicule, the idiots that made this decision need to hear from us. These decisions reflect on all of us.

This is the site that worries constantly about design elements in logos, the volume of the jumbotron, scorboard ribbons, towel distribution, t-shirt colors, and a whole host of other meaningless crap. This moronic move by university actually makes us look VERY bad, so I would expect to see some real outrage and action.

National titles, you are right. But, conference titles, no. No other school has tried to pull this nonsense.
