How many times are you gonna type out that phrase you came up with? Weird.

Anyway, keep telling yourself that. Obviously there's divided opinion on this, and when there's not 100% agreement on something, some people will try to hurl insults rather than actually focusing on the topic.

I'll keep stating this until your posts change.
With any luck, you'll vacate TexAgs like JLF3.

that's actually a lie - he said one game next season - and then said 1st game vs LA tech. So he is technically lying either way.

I bet none of you had to make tough decisions before either, huh? Nor have you sniffed a job with as much pressure as Sumlin's. You act like the man is letting convicted felons play without punishment. The man had no control over what transpired the last few days and shouldn't be berated for events that were out of his control.

Do you even know what Jenkins and Matthews did wrong, and do you really think it justified them having to sit out for such a big game? They will get their suspension.

They were never intended to be suspended for the FL game. It would now be unfair to do so. It was the right call.

Great example set. It would not be fair to let them play against La Tech just because the game was moved from the first week. He is keeping his word to La Tech that they won't play. Good dude

Whether coach sais they are suspended for the 1st game or la tech specifically, does not matter. Florida is our second game and they will still sit for la tech? What's the problem?

If this was some huge ethical breach by Sumlin, the AD would step in and make them miss the UF game. That won't happen because this is no big deal.

I don't really care. I don't post for your approval.

Just saying --- look at someone like Gundy. Came in, cleaned house, gained a TON of respect, and gradually built up a program getting better and better every year, including four straight wins over A&M, 2 over Texas, and then finally beating OU and winning the B12.

He's never questioned about discipline matters, and he has everyone's respect....even if it cost him early. That's it --- all I'm saying on it.

I am not going to argue having them sit out the
Florida game at this point.

So now they are going to play five games. During
that time they can be model citizens on and off the field, and then they don't get to play.

Okay.

which is more unfair? changing their suspension to october 13 but keeping it against the same opponent for whatever reason, or telling a player he can earn his way back to play with his team for the home opener if he completes "xyz" criteria (which he does) only to change your mind 10 days before the game hes worked so hard to come back for just because a few rainclouds are going to be at the original first game. This is the right call. He would have definitely lost credibility with those two and probably with the team if he didnt let them play in the game they worked so hard to earn their spots in.

Once this hits mainstream Sports news sites you will see the heat get raised on Sumlin. I thought the aggies had an Honor Code?

Why have them sit out at all at this point.

I don't really care either way. I just know the Aggies would be up in arms if several other teams had done this. I'm seeing a lot of rationalization for the decision and very few people standing by their honor code. That's all I'm saying
Corporal Punishment

I agree with you 100%. It's all about rationalizing what your team is doing and faking outrage at your rival. Silly discussion going on here.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The Aggies now don't have a much needed bye week and could be beat up by that game due to a tough schedule up to that point. If they have a tough game against LA Tech, it won't bode well for the Aggies considering what comes after that game.

"Gotta win, baby. Art Briles has meted out about the same "punishment" to rules-breakers at Baylor the last couple of years."

Sooooooo... now you are justifying breaking the "code" because briles does it? Wow.

He's not freaking lying. La tech was the first game. He said they were suspended for the first game against la tech. Now that la tech isn't the first game, that changes the criteria.

Some of you are way too literal sometimes, and even in this case brig over literal can still be wrong.

He said they are suspended the first game against la tech. There is no first game against la tech.

First off who gives a sh**?

Second, Mack has done similar things.

Third, that was under the assumption that la tech was the first game.

There's not a damn thing wrong with what sumlin did so shut the f*** up you stupid blithering idiot horn.

Some of you are beyond idiots.

And most of us sane ones wouldn't give a rats ass if it happened elsewhere, just the hypocritical ones.

Splitting hairs to rationalize the decision against a more difficult team. Were the next team Rice or UNT, no way they have to wait SIX game to serve their "punishment".

You know it. The team knows it. The media knows it. It's Sumlins call to make, and that's fine - but don't get all up in arms when such a transparent move gets called out.

Ron Zook went down a similiar path early on during his tenure at FL as many articles have mentioned. Games changed and he decided to follow suit. Thing is, it set a negative precedent and while he had many faults (bad game preparation, fundamentals, etc)...one of the primary problems he faced was a lack of discipline from his players, especially the stars that knew they were above the rules of everyone else.

Would you say missing a non-conference game on the road is the same punishment as missing the home opener, as well as first SEC game ever? Not quite the same.

Second, Mack has done similar things.

Not even remotely accurate. Mack has had his share of discipline problems and some players were puished and others were not. But he never arbitrarily went back on is original statement because the situations facing him were more difficult than originally understood.

Case in point - the Cotton bowl game vs. Arkansas in 2000. AR and Texas go way back and the hype for this game was strong. Players were worned to behave, and two stars: Kavil and Humphreys were benched. Arguably the best DE (led team in TFL and QB pressures) on the team and easily the best offensive threat. Mack never budged and they both missed a huge game.

I don't know who you're talking too, buy I'm only up in arms at the idiots actually trying to call him out for it. Seems to be a non issue for anyone outside of A&M, especially considering not kne of those ignorant fools calling him out in this tread old even name what Matthews and Jenkins did to warrant the suspension in the first place.

Your point about not suspending for oter games like smu doesnt hold water either since you dont know what the offense was. How do you know that wheny theynud it sumlin didnt immediately think this warrants a non conference game suspension? And it wasnt severe enough to warrant a conferrence game suspension? Long story short, There's nothing wrong with it and I'm sure he couldn't care less what Internet posting idiots think. There's also plenty of coaches that would have made the same decision he made, so why other hypocrites even feel the need to call him out is beyond me.

Oh and comparing this to Ron zooks lack of control is a bit of a stretch. Nothing about sumlin indicates that and one instance like this holds no water either.
