Approx $12.4 million is being withheld. Then there is a signing bonus for the new tv deal. We would have received, let's say, $4-5 million. We are waiving a portion of it, and receiving a portion. So it sounds like when Loftin says the "economic impact" is $9.4 million, he is reducing the $12.4mm by the amount of the signing bonus we actually get. The big 12 is saying we forfeit $12.4mm plus the amount of the waived bonus for a total of $14mm.

Been a long time coming.

Sounds like the usher and gatemen won't be getting a raise this year.

Best part is we still get some of the TV money even though we're not in the conference! Good job on law suit threat there K*! You were able to hold off us leaving for a little bit and allowed us to get better conference while you're stuck in this "conference" being Master Dodds witch! Now I think the math is more like we lose $12.4 million of earned revenue and gain $3 million unearned signing bonus.
Now what Loftin is saying is Hah! we are getting $3 million of signing bonus for a conference and TV deal we will never participate in because we are still memnbers and could probably screw it up if we wanted to.

^struck me as just the opposite- we were taking the high road and saying "no hard feelings"

kind of the opposite of what t.u. and Baylor have done.

I thought he stated it class fully, and I think it needs to be said frequently, especially on momentous occasions like this when he knows he could get it reprinted, he knows it's going to be on the College Page on ESPN.com and all the others.....
