The story i heard when i was a freshman was that way back when there was this pisshead who was a real ass about giving demerits for uniforms. He got kind of a reputation and other guys started saying "gig'em" when they saw him. Gig was supposed to be the nickname for the demerit

Question: Damn it! Why didn't they take more careful notes about these traditions when they started them?
Answer: Because TexAgs didn't exist for people to bicker enough to prevent the traditions from ever being formed in the first place.

well where are you from? because you didnt know where the term came from.
HINT: its not TCU, that story is false. The pinky downs story takes place in 1930. The gig em yell was around prior to that and it can be seen in the yearbook as early as 1919.
So back to your original question. Im from arlington and I actually know the term Gig 'Em didnt start with Pinky Downs and the TCU story.
And on top of that, he apparently left A&M after his sophmore year. He doesnt appear in the yearbooks as a graduate in 1906
