Those were selected as the best unis by Bleacher Report, one of the least respected sports websites around. I looked at that list you posted yesterday, and from a uniform nerd perspective, it was atrocious.

No BLACK jerseys!!

rcb - hey, I'm not a big fan of bleacher report either, but even a broke clock is right twice a day!

To me, because they are so extensively used, black unis create the impression that a team is trying to be something they are not. This is especially when the team suddenly shifts to them. However, the gunmetal gray look is a distinctive appearance that would look really classic and bad as* at the same time if it is done correctly. However, if people don't like gunmetal gray (pewter), then another color that would just as good with a maroon aTm outlined in white on a helmet is the color the Oakland Raiders use for their helmets -- silver.

to get an idea of what silver would look like, check out the University of Montana grizzlies. The colors they use are maroon and silver and they look sharp. Now imagine the aTm on those helmets instead, and just a little white mixed into the jersey. Plus, the players in the jersey would be a little bigger, more athletic. Would also be really awesome. No one else in the SEC has this type of helmet and uniform, and not very many on the college circuit either:

You really don't get out of Texas often enough.

It's a major problem outside. Black is one of the "hottest" or heat absorbing colors or tints on the spectrum. You need colors to reflect heat on those hot autumn or spring days to keep athletes as cool as possible.

This heat argument is so dumb! Maroon reflects heat SO much better than black? Let me say again, dumb.

Black unis once. Some big game. Don't announce it just do. Or at least some kind of alt uni. Recruits like it. Fans will get over it.

Below is the Nike Pro Combat version of the University of Montana's uniform. Relevant because our schools' colors or similar although A&M's shade of maroon is a little darker. This look is awesome!

I'd like Black Jerseys

Black is horrible... and why are you pushing for us to copy Montana's uniforms? Our current uniforms are much better.

I don't think any one (sane) is pushing to replace our uniforms. However, an alternate uniform (players seem to like black) once wouldn't be the end of the world and would draw interest in our program from high schoolers.

I want to maintain tradition too, but if you look at our uniform past they change all the time. So that's really the only tradition. We also use to be red so...

I'm not saying change it all together. I love our maroon. I would like to see more of the grey pants and mix in the white helmets more often and a matte maroon helmet. I also think an all black set up once would be interesting.

Remember that we are designing the unis to draw in 17 y/o kids not 30 something men. Kids like flair, kids like options, and the kids have let be known (on twitter) that they would love black.

I'd love hot pink uniforms as long as we were frijken winning the MNC every year. Just win folks. Or buy a dog.

whiskey -- not really pushing Montana. lol Call what I am doing thinking out loud and sharing those thoughts. I like our uniforms, alot, as they are. Just trying to see how we can enhance what we already have. Just seems like adding a little silver or gunmetal gray would accent things and make a great looking uniform even better.

Texas A&M's school colors are MAROON and WHITE. There are plenty of ways to work with M&W to make significant uniform changes.
Example: I'd love to see the football jerseys from the Bellard era (mid 1970s) brought back for occasional use.

That just means need to have M&W on the uniform. Doesn't mean that the only colors must be those colors. Nothing says can't mix in another color to accent things and spice 'em up. As long as the uniform contains those two colors in significant abundance, that is what matters.

I strongly believe some modifications/alterations would do more good than not…black might be a stretch though. I know we are all about tradition but so is Notre Dame and Michigan. If they can make some adjustments I believe we can as well. Sorry Old Army but its time to get some things going. Believe it or not you do not know what high school kids are thinking or what they like. Now would be an opportune time to make some minor modifications while moving into the best conference in the nation #SEC. Also, get the dance team on Kyle Field!!
