I was there. It was VERY cold. You could hear the impact in the stands. We thought he killed him at first. Most violent hit I have ever seen on a football field.

Someone needs to get this to the current D coaches.

Regarding all of the injuries to TCU players that night, I remember Dan Cook writing in the SA Express that the gurney made so many trips onto the field that they had to rotate the tires. I miss Dan Cook.

I would *love* to see the ESPN broadcast of this game. I haven't seen it since I watched it live 20 years ago. If anyone has a videotape here in B/CS, I can digitize it so that we can all see it.

You're grandpa died that day and you still went to the game.

I can't decide if that's red ass or heartless...

We weren't going to, but my grandmother said he would have wanted us to go. He lived and breathed football. So we went.

I remember vivdly he and I arguing over best hits we had ever seen. He had some Arky hit that he said was the best he had ever seen (He was a Razorback grad after having attended A&M his first semester and going off to WW2). Mine was a hit that James Flowers had against U of H, I believe. The Arky hit might have been better, but I was going to argue for the Ags.

I like to think that maybe he looked down that night and said "Now THAT'S a hit!"

I was there working for the Aggie radio broadcast. Coldest game I've ever been to. Since I was on the sideline, my favorite part was walking over to where the medical staff was attending to McPherson and watching them check all of his teeth looking for loose ones. Teeth were OK, jaw - not so much.

They showed a quick clip of this on the Jumbotron during the Mizzou game before the game started.

The angle of the clip was about the same as that still picture above.

Does anyone have access to that video that can be posted here. It was much more dramatic than the one from above.

I was there, 50 yardline, 11th row upper deck. Sitting behind some tcu grad students. After that hit, they said, game over, our guys aren't going to get in the way of any Aggie now.

It was the coldest game I have ever been to, Thursday nite, sleet falling occasionally. Bathrooms in the upper deck froze. Me, my ex, this old Ag and his wife were the last 4 to leave the upper deck, late in the 4th qtr.

I was there and threads like this make me feel like the old **** that I am. Was a senior in HS at the time and froze my ass off at the game with my Class of '68 uncle and my cousin. We were on the TCU sideline part of the stadium, first deck, probably 40 yardline or so. I think part of the reason we were so cold is that while we were in the TCU section, there weren't many TCU fans there surrounding us to block the wind and generate some crowd heat - if they were there, it wasn't for long. The other thing I remember about that day was listening to Magic Johnson talk about his hivvy on the radio while we were driving to the game. Not only did the WR get destroyed, I remember TCU going through quarterback after quarterback. It as an absolute blitz feast.

One of the things that makes the hit so great is the way Coryatt turns and walks away almost immediately like "just doing my job". That part is almost better than the actual hit!

Go watch the very end where he walks away, it's great!

Ah, the days back when.

Say, think he has any eligibility left?

I was there, and was frozen. Good warm up
afterwards at Old South Pancake House.

Also, the prevailing thought at the time was that ESPN really liked the Ags for some reason. Guess times have changed.

I remember that day very well: my son was born at St. Joseph Hospital that night and the game was on in a waiting room (ok he was born at dang near midnight!!). He is proud to be associated with "the HIT" having the same birthday.

I was there with my old man. Bucky threw the ball like I'd never seen before and Derrick Frazier (who I played with in high school) blocked a field goal that was returned for a touchdown if memory serves me correctly.

I was there...and I agree that the lack of TCU fans in the stands made it that much colder.

Drove from CS to Ft. Worth that day. Seems like we were around Hillsboro when they came on the radio with Magic Johnson's press conference.
