If it doesn't matter what A&M does, why the threats of lawsuits from Baylor?

Because over the next decade the move could cost Baylor $100,000,000 dollars in revenue. When that happens any institution in the world is going to look very carefully at why it happened and who caused it. OU has done nothing yet, you and the SEC have.

Butif OU gives us a soft landing or is seen as the more immediate cause because they bolt without waivers etc., the case against the SEC becomes non-existent or much harder. If you are Mike Slive don't you wait?

The Chicken Ranch,

I hope that I am wrong as well...but due to the events playing out, it is becoming more and more obvious that the SEC does not really want us and that they were just doing it to preserve their image while tu is washing its hands of the matter by saying that we left the conference on our own accord.

This is, by far, the dumbest and most insane argument I've heard yet.

So...the SEC, who could've just told A&M 'Sorry, we're not interested in expanding at this time' decided to entertain Loftin's overtures, then schedule a coupla votes by SEC prez's, go to a LOT of time and expense discussing the move, ALL BECAUSE THEY REALLY DIDN'T WANT YOU, ANYWAY, BUT SOMEHOW COULDN'T FIND ANY OTHER WAY TO LET YOU KNOW??? OR, BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO REJECT A&M IN THE MOST EMBARRASSING WAY POSSIBLE???

Is that your argument?
I hope you're not an attorney. I'd hate to have the outcome of my future resting on the nature of that kind of delusional thinking.

The bottom line is that the SEC needs to change its position unless there is an unlikely scenario looming where Baylor signs a waiver. Otherwise, this aint happening anytime soon.

As the rules of the game stand today, yes, this is the bottom line.

The real loser here may be the SEC. They don't know who they are dealing with in the whorns. After the OSU game last night listening to Pickens, tu is going to have to share revenue wherever they go- or be independent. No conference is going to let them push it around after this- the B12 is their best option.

What is going to happen is tu is going to say, 'we are going to drop the LHN, our competitors view it is an unfair advantage, and we are going to let it go.'

When that happens- game, set, match for the SEC in Texas. A&M will be under tremendous pressure to stay B12 at that point. tu gets the good will, and the benevolent leader status, and they keep the SEC out of their recruiting areas. They give up what they are going to have to give up anyway. The SEC loses it's 40% increased tv deal.

SEC needs to stop acting like there is no downside to waiting. They are going to blow this deal- bluffed out of it by Baylor!

If it comes to it I'll bet that there are enough teams in the SEC that could find room on their schedules next year to fill up the Aggies schedule.

Sorry you guys are getting slow played right now but evidently for things to work out everything needs to come out of the oven at the same time.

In the mean time go kick some big 12 butt.

We are SEC bound. Folks need to be patient, it's going to happen. SEC isn"t going to lose the prize of Texas TV markets becasue of what amounts to a potential baseless lwasuit. They are just being careful.

Longhorn Network or not, we ain't gonna be in the Big 12 after this yr.

besides, i don't think the LHN is the only reason we're leaving.

LHN is just a symptom of a much more serious disease.

Hate to say it, but conversations between OU and Texas in re: OU's potential departure are more important than anything short of the SEC
taking us "warts and all"...at this point.

OU wants concessions on LHN; they WILL get them
since Texas has lost their iron grip. I'd say
OU will go ANYWHERE with Texas, including even
staying here in the "Escher Conference"...where
things are often not as they seem.

OU to PAC? Not without Texas. A bluff.

Texas says "Fine w/us, OU"? Not unless Texas has decided to modify the LHN and go with them.

OU MUST preserve the "Red River Shooting" and Texas will kill it if OU moves minus horns.

I HATE to admit who REALLY has cards to play...

Nobody else in the B12 has other true options, except our one year independence plan in 2012.
....which I support, if the SEC can't/won't
commit. Let's play the field for 2013.

OU has to work out something with Texas; what, at this point, is unclear. The hell of it is,
neither of them REALLY has a deadline; we do,
(of sorts) and can't force OU/Texas to move
expeditiously so we can get to work.

I think I'm moving to the Balkans, where life is less complex.
