does feel like a tease again. All we're getting is Knee jerk reactions from bloggers from the tu espn deal. Nothing else.

I remain optimistic as is my nature,,,but down deep within I know A&M will not do anything to rock the status quo.

Hope I am way way wrong.

When was old info given out? If there wasn't old info out there certainly isn't new info being given out.

I like the timing for 3 reasons.

1) Elections are over

2) TU has made a money/attention grab with ESPN, and we can justify the move based on that alone.

3)The WAC has moved into Texas with Texas State and UTSA, which if engineered right could be a home for Baylor, Tech and some of the other B12 schools that would be impacted. We know in con re alignment that 3 super conferences will be the SEC, Big 10, Pac 10. This will result in turmoil in the ACC Big East Big 12. So the race for creating a fourth Super Conf is pretty wide open(other than merging the Big East and ACC remaining players could be the Hoops conference of all conferences).

If you think money would not roll in if we made the move, look at Vanderbilt's take from the SEC this past year. HUGE!!

Equal revenue sharing is a funny thing.

I bet we'd get more Radio exposure in Austin. The second Texas A&M moves to the SEC, you can bet "The Horn" will change from a Rivals UT radio station without broadcast rights to the SEC Station in Austin, probably broadcasting double headers each week.

I don't remember anyone giving out any actual information either. Just stating that they had information.

Bobby, what happened to your SECede sig? You used to have one.

Nonregdrummer09, Why do I even have to ask you about your sig?

Just messing with you two, but I do think it would look sharp for those in favor of the SEC to have SECede sigs. I think there are about 10 out there to choose from.

The SEC is a nasty place, down and dirty in the means justifies the end mentality. Texas A&M should not be a part of that atmosphere. With Coach Sherm's program of academics, high character athletes and sticking to the rules, we would be on a slippery slope in the SEC.

ontheway,

Where do you propose we play when the Big 12-2 falls apart or when the conference is relegated to becoming a dumping ground for the sips' non-revenue sports?

You might check out some of the programs in the Pac-12, Big 10 and Big 12-2...not exactly squeaky clean there either.

You're right it is a slippery slope. The SEC will use that mentality, and after gaining entrance to Texas markets, will have a huge cash flow that will make any other conferences ability to win a MNC impossible. This huge influx will be a slippery slope to embolden the SEC to have the south rise again, embolden themselves to go to war with the union. This will clearly lead to nuclear war. It's all a slippery slope.

I never saw this article posted, relevant to BevoTV, A&M to SEC, etc.:

http://www.thestate.com/2011/01/24/1660730/commentary-tv-deal-augments-texas.html

quote:

All things considered, let me offer a retraction: Forget my subtle suggestion after the Cotton Bowl that Texas A&M should forget about the SEC. The question of whether it could keep up in the nation’s toughest league no longer matters. Like Arkansas before it, Texas A&M may have no choice but to go.

jagvocate, nice find, that article is quite insightful, and it's pretty much what I've been saying for the past two weeks.

There are many moving pieces to the issue of "A&M to the SEC."

I am pro-SEC, but I believe we have to focus on facts (or, at least very logical inferences).

One of the mis-statements that keeps creeping into this whole debate is whether the SEC would get to renegotiate media $$$ upon the addition of A&M.

http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/060410/foo_649073150.shtml

http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2010/06/02/mike-slive-on-sec-expansion-contract-terms-matter/

If you can interpret Slive's comments, a renegotiation IS CONTEMPLATED by the SEC CONTRACT.

Does that mean that we will go to the SEC? Of course not. But we have to focus on reality, and I read Slive's comments as a positive and a tacit admission that media rights would be renegotiated if A&M entered the SEC.

Making more money is always popular, and if the SEC wants a second bite at their media contract, adding a team is the obvious avenue.
