Hey guys I'm just curious as to what there is to do around Arlington. (i.e. local eateries, arcades *don't judge I'm a kid at heart* bars, etc.)
This is my first A&M game and my first time being to dallas in quite sometime. Any help would be appreciated.

Ive lived in Arlington my entire life so hopefully I can help. The highlands on matlock and 20 has all kinds of stuff to do. You can take a tour of cowboys stadium or the ballpark. Fort Worth has a great nightlife. Mostly at sundance square but the stockyards are fun too. If none of this sounds appealing I can continue.

The Clubhouse in Dallas is a nice place.

The Highlands in South Arlington has Dave and Busters for arcade, an upscale bowling alley in Splitsville, lots of good eateries, places to drink and places to shop. In North Arlington by the stadium there are a few good bars. I'd recommend Sherlocks on Friday night. I believe on Thursday night Midnight Yell will be in Fort Worth around Sundance Square. Like AgTown said, you can't go wrong with Forth Worth.

I used to live there from 1976 to 1984. When I was going to UT - Cooper Street, we would hang out @ restaurant / bar named J Gilligans. I saw it was on Food Channel last year and recomended.

They also will shuttle you to the game for $7.

Close enough to schlep into Plano for some big city excitement.

When I lived in Arlington, there was an awesome gyro place off of Division and Cooper next to a Jack in the Box.

There's a bone daddys in Arlington?? WTF I need to get out more often. The one in Grapevine is ok. But I'd love to see what the women in Ag town have to show.

It's an information/recruiting office from what I understand. Pretty genius actually. If a high school kid is considering A&M, but can't make it to College Station they can go there. Obviously they won't get the feel of the real thing, but they can at least get the info needed.

You'll find that Arlington is not only the greatest city you've ever been to, but the greatest city that will ever be in existence in your entire lifetime.

TOTALLY not biased here!

There aren't many bars or anything in Arlington, but there are plenty of places to eat and such. Plus, close to Dallas and Ft. Worth so just google and explore around if you want.

Candlelight Inn, and old school Arlington classic:

1202 East Division Street, Arlington, TX 76011

J Gilligans has been there forever.

Arlington Steak House for a dive/steak place.

JR Bently's is a good English pub.

Bobby V's is fairly popular too

One of my favorite mexican joints for good food is Mijo's (in Pantego on Park Row).

Also on Park Row in Pantego is David's BBQ.

Pantego is about 10 minutes west of the stadium, maybe 15.

Wow never seen so much praise for Arlington. Seriously, I lived there and I love it for what it is, but its dead, there is no excitement or nightlife at all. Other than the new stadium, rangers, six flags and hurricane harbor there is nothing to do. When I lived there I always left if i wanted to go do soemthing fun - Dallas or Ft. Worth are the places to go. Stockyards, Billy Bobs, Deep Ellum, uptown area or something around TCU or SMU. But not Arlington, even the college is primarily a commuter school.

There are restaurants and some bars and stuff. but when the best you can come up with is J. Gilligans and Dave and Busters....wow. J Gilligans is a decent run down college area neighborhood bar with some live music sometimes, but its no Chicken or Dudley's. And Dave and Busters, well it is what it is, nothing more.

Arlington is a "bedroom community". People live there and work elsewhere. And they come for some of the entertainment, but not the nightlife.

Three options in Arlington.

1. Cotton Bowl
2. Get ganked
3. GTFO!!!!

You're welcome.

wow, I lived there & worked 5 minutes away in Grand Prairie while going to school.

I never said J Gilligans was a Dudley's, I said it was fun back then, and must have OK food to make The Food Channel reviews. The Irish nachos are really good IMO.

Randy, the owner is a nice guy.

Nothing to do in Arlington, hmmm, we went to The Mine Shaft, Skippy's Mistake, baseball, football & basketball games, rock concerts @ Texas Hall, partied on campus @ the UTA student bar, and could go on and on.

Plus, I met a hot 20 year old blond 5 years younger than I, and we had lotsa fun

if you like arcades and are willing to drive to Dallas there is Barcadia

http://www.barcadiadallas.com/barcadia-games.htm

its a basic bar with old school arcade games, skeeball, and giant jenga.

food is ok but nothing special. there are several other places to go to in the immediate area as well.
