My two cents:
The SMU Game: The score that day was 27-7, but statistically it was a much closer game than the scoreboard reflected. Shot ourselves in the foot a lot.
The saber incident: Hood did NOT charge onto the field with his saber drawn,,, he was provoked by the male cheerleader behind him and another one backing him up until he fell backwards over the one kneeling behind him. He lost it after that, no one was there to back him up, he was all by himself trying to protect the sacred ground of Kyle. In retrospect, we all wish it would have went down a little different. I personally don't begrudge Hood for his actions. I saw it all take place in front of me, I was in the 2nd deck. He was out of the corps after that, but he did come back to A&M as a non-reg.
I remember all the SMU probation and death penalty, but as a student back then, I didn't read up on all of the details. I thoroughly enjoyed the documentary. I was intrigued by the entire program. What a tangled web, complete with politics, rich alum, and the whole nine yards.
What I am thoroughly confused abuout, and what I want to know is,,,,, who the heck was Mark Lewis????? I remember lots of big name Aggies football players from that era, and for the life of me, cannot ever remember a Mark Lewis..... WhoTF???
And whatever we paid the guy, supposedly made the $20K offered to him by SMU look like chicken feed.
I don't know if anyone else caught it, but if you have it DVR'd, go back and look,,,,, when they were about to put a stop to it all, they conveniently had the commentary of "....putting a stop" or something like that,,, with a goal line stand by the WC being put on the ponies.....
