zwhag2010: Hopefully everyone can see that I've got love for the contributions of non-regs, but about half of your list is wrong.

Ring Day is so new that almost no one on here is going to know or care about it.

2 non-reg yell leaders - this is not a tradition. I'm not even sure what it means.

Maroon Out - Are we sure that there weren't any Corps members involved in starting it? Personally, I have no idea.

E-walk - started when participation in the Corps was mandatory, so, you know...

Bonfire - see E-walk

Replant - see Maroon Out

I really liked all the tu hatred from Dickerson and others......just great

I don't think we truly realize that everybody in the SWC hated tu back in those days...

and most of the SWC schools and alumni still do

Maroon Out was started by non-regs

This thread was doomed to be a haven for a group of obnoxious non-regs, who constantly feel they have to voice their discontentment with the Corps, from the beginning.

Please let this thread die, people.

Maroon Out was started by Class Councils in 1998. Whether that was made up of non-reg or Corps probably doesn't matter too much, does it?

This saber incident is something that anti-A&M people use against us. For a non-reg to be on here saying the Corps is embarrassing is in itself embarrassing. For a member of the Corps to be on here saying a non-reg isn't a real Aggie is in itself embarrassing.

I think we can all be unified in the belief that this was an unfortunate incident, but it does not define us as Aggies and we're still proud as hell of who we are and where we're from.

Now can we all cut the crap? This senseless bickering makes you look like a bunch of middle school girls.

This thread has nicely turned into a pathetic e-peen measuring contest...

Is Moth Greg Hood?

I was on the 2nd deck alum side - a teenaged u'grad sittin' w/my parents when THE IDIOT MADE US A NATIONAL LAUGHINGSTOCK.

I yelled "Quit that, you idiot", and got dirty looks from old Ags all around. I turned to one particularly angry (at me) old Ag and said, "I'm sorry, but just wait, this will be a national news story that will embarrass A&M for years!". I was generally correct, but....

I woefully underestimated how stupid and how prominent Mr. Hood's IDIOCY would make A&M look. I hope he grew up - never did hear an apology to his fellow Ags (he may have done so-certainly should have).

Also, the "beating" that the wannabe CT described on this thread - A BALD-FACED LIE!
Never happened.

It's funny to see people try and rewrite the history of "sabergate". For the record, Hood ran on to the field and kicked the SMU cheerleader when he was still on the ground -then drew his saber, poked the guy with it, and waved it around menacingly. Another cheerleder sent Hood flying head over hills making him look like a complete fool... Never, at anytime, did an SMU cheerleader sneak around behind Hood to enable someone to trip him. That is a total fabrication and the video is proof of that.

Seriously, if you didn't see the incident don't keep fabricating nonsense about how you "think" it happened.

I was just above that whole scene. It happened so fast but Hood is lucky he didn't hurt someone or get himself hurt. There was nothing redemptive in that moment and no excuse for it. The guy has paid his price, though. Let it be.

By the way, Mick's link is fascinating. That's great video of an awful moment.

On my YouTube page is another gawdawful move, this time by the shovel brigade of Parson's, the original "poopslap". Flung it into the bad guys' band.

The camera is ALWAYS rolling boys.

Am I the only one who is not that impressed with the sabre incident? Maybe because I was too young to remember any of the fallout, but Hey! Stay off the damn field!

Yeah, video clearly show no "pant pulling" or torn pants what so ever. The dudes pants were still completely tucked into his boots. And none of this "SMU cheer leader crept up behind him so the other guys pushed him down". 150 pound CT went crazy and got punked by a male pretty boy cheer leader, end of story

I wasn't in the Corps, but I don't understand some of the bickering from both sides-I guess it's just human nature. I had no idea about the Corps when I showed up at A&M, and I've seen a couple of them do stupid/ill advised things, but that is reflective of the age group of the students and not the Corps. How many of us did stupid stuff at that age? Non-regs make a load of bad decisions on a daily basis, but they don't get the press like a Corps member does as they aren't from such a publicly recognized organization. Mostly the Corps guys are then bashed by some other Ags that have some kind of warped agenda against the Corps; I can't figure that out.

As a non-reg I'm proud of the Corps and how they make A&M unique. So occasionally one of them makes a bonehead move that the anti-A&M types chastise to make them feel better about themselves; big friggin' deal. Get over it. Why do some of you hold the Corps to some ideal standard that can't be upheld 100% of the time by kids that age? Do you expect the same of the non-regs? That being said, a Corps guy that tells me I am less Aggie because I wasn't in the Corps can STFU.

Every organization has a few screwballs, or even just good students that make a bad mistake in public, but some of the Corps types are some of the finest people I know. They are a big part of upholding the spirit of Texas A&M.

Isn't the off-season great?
