You also have to think that Pinky brought some 1906 tradition to the 1930s...

I never could find out if and when he graduated. he is in the year books in 1903 and 1904.

But I along with another friend could not locate him in the 1905 or 1906 year books.

Only thing I can think of is that he left and came back, came in with a bunch of credits, or graduated elsewhere.

"give 'em demerits!"

Was changed to "Gig Em" shortly afterward.

(Gig as in "gig line" between shirt and trouser zipper, they should line up, otherwise one would received demerits aka "gigs"

Gig Em is similar to Whoop. The origin is still pretty sketchy.

I always heard something similar. That's why we make the handsign the way we do in front of our chests. I've heard one version that Pinky popularized "Gig 'Em" with using the handsign to remind fish or whomever to check their gig lines.

He may have said "Gig 'Em" at the TCU midnight yell, but that's clearly not the origin. Googling around, the earliest printed source for the frog hunting story is a 1988 Paul Burka story in Texas Monthly.

There is no question that the pennant is authentic. I've seen at least 2 identical ones that have sold on ebay in the last 5 years and have seen another one in person. If you want the prices they sold for PM me.
