Patterson made Fran.

That would require A&M buying out his contract for six years!?!?! I don't think we could afford to do that.......hopefully I'm wrong about this
I'd like a follow-up to this post.13wins said:
Getting Fran would be almost too good to be true.
This comment referring to Mike Stoops coming to A&M. This guy knew...didn't he?Physics96 said:
Bob is the brains behind that team; Mike is not head coach material.

The only change I remember was the great meltdown in 1999, but other than that the site looked the same beforehand and the only real difference was in the number of people on it.DallasAg91 said:

On paper, Fran was the perfect hire.
I went to Coaches Night in August right before his first season started, everyone was excited and this event was in such demand it had to be held in Reed Arena, which was the first (and I think the only) time it was held in Reed. We had our own table and invited about 10 other people to sit with us.
The party atmosphere at our table was palpable, we relished being a part of this coup that few thought we'd pull off. Then Mike McKenzie (Fran's biographer) gave his remarks and the whole atmosphere changed. I was like........
Later Fran spoke and he just didn't resonate with me, or anyone at our table, or with most of the crowd. We chalked it up to us being the problem, not Fran, and he received what I would call "polite" applause. I remember leaving and thinking are Fran and his staff aliens who came to run our football program.....or are we the aliens?
Better times...The Fife said:The only change I remember was the great meltdown in 1999, but other than that the site looked the same beforehand and the only real difference was in the number of people on it.DallasAg91 said:

Folks,
Time to open up the checkbooks for this guy. I think 1.5 would do the trick. If you don't think we can afford it, you haven't seen all the multi million dollar projects going up left and right around campus. I knew they were sandbagging evertime I went to Jolly Rolli or Deware.
I think this guy is holding out and wants to come back to Texas.
Can you imagine the power in the Big 12 if he were to bring us back to top 10 material.
I should have been more clear.Ghost91 said:
I find this fascinating. What was it the biographer said/did that turned you off? Or was it just the fact that a coach ran around with his own personal 'biographer' (which I remember thinking was weird AF).

Every time, the same old thing. If you learn anything from this..
We have the money. That's never the problem.
Getting Jimbo Fisher would be almost too good to be true.13wins said:
