Ansel,

That "deported" comment is ignorant.

Well, at least we agree there, Talon.

I laugh at this PC crap. Some of these people are so far into PC dont speak they have become thought police by pushing it.

Wow. I started this thread just as a joke. I see tshirt fans all the time and normally dont have a problem with them. when they start saying "WE are going to destroy you on thanksgiving" is when i get annoyed.

I'll say the word Mexican all I want. Mexican Mexican Mexican. Why do people see this word as racist? What if i said Canadians are a bunch of tshirt longhorn fans? Would that be racist?

Yes, its ignorant and insensitive to use derogatory terms like some people have, but I have refrained from doing so. One of my closest friends is Mexican. To the horns who are posting on this thread: stop trying to make all Ags out to be racists.

I singled them out because it has been something I've observed both in Texas and in Pennsylvania. Up here the primary consumer of Longhorn gear are hispanics that have immigrated north. There is nothing racially intended, just an observation. Again, there I have no intention of making my comments seem derogatrory, they are only observations.

This thread wasn't about being descriptive and to claim that the thread wasn't intended to be derogatory is lying outloud. Being "a Mexican" doesn't mean you cannot use racism and racist statements, claiming one has to be in a dominant role to be racist or to act in a racist manner is self-serving bullsh**. This is especially true when using such a language allows you to "fit in" with the group you want to fit in with. It has happened throughout history.

In addition, all of your backtracking doesn't cover up for the behavior of other Ags on the thread. Much of the issue didn't rise from your post.

talon, serious question, you ever read Minority Study II?

Jim Croce

hammer, this isn't about being PC. PC means that you avoid speaking the truth when the truth might offend the hyper-sensitive public.

This is a common decency issue. An educated man/woman with any kind of positive moral character would refrain from making comments that belittles another due to things they do not choose (ie. ethnicity).

Pretty much debunks any claim to a classy fan base by Ags on this board.

Give me a break. A&M-haters love to find reasons to call the A&M fan base classless. Yes, I KNOW there are bad fans. Every school has bad apples. But A&M's fan base is KNOWN for its classy and spirited fans. If you come to Kyle on t-day, I guarantee you'll be treated with respect and dignity. Yes, there will be trash talking, but for the most part we're not going to be flat out a-holes to you.

You are using one comment on the internet to "prove" your point that A&M's fans are classless and racist. Just keep looking for reasons to believe A&M's fans are bad. Unbelievable.

Let's examine the following per Talon:

By definition, an individual needs to be in a position of power to be technically a racist.

And now let's examing the following definition of racism from Webster's Dictionary:

"a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race"

And which fanbase accuses the other of being PC? Please.

Leave it to a couple 'Europeans' to make asses out of themselves.

You are one inbred hillbilly redneck dumbass if you think that spouting generalizations about "Mexicans" is somehow acceptable. This isn't your trailer park in Vidor, it's the internets, and you are embarassing your alma mater (provided you ever were actually admitted and matriculated there).

Basically, stop confirming eight decades worth of Aggie jokes you morons.

Whenever I see a thread like this, I cringe because it makes all Aggies look like a bunch of little kid brothers trying to kick their older brother in the ankle so they can proudly proclaim: "yeah, I bet that hurt real bad huh?"

In other words, the OP is freaking stupid. I know a lot of A&M fans that have never been (nor will they ever be) anywhere near A&M.

A&M fans look retarded because they develop this complex that they are the best fans in the world. In reality I would say A&M fans are actually among the most whiny, unsatisfied, hypocritical, and ignorant fans I have ever witnessed. (hence, the existence of Texags, lol)

Anyways, quit pretending like all tu fans are not good fans because you just look like an ass whenever people get on this board after a loss and say stuff like they are "never going to cheer for the Ags again" and sheet like that.

Abilene, read my previous posts before you start calling me out. I have no problems with Texas fans for the most part. I'll be at the game with some of them actually.

Stallion,

I've got a very long and involved history with Texas A&M and their fans. I'm not using one of anything to judge anyone.

Actually, our fans really are great people. We go out of our way to ensure opposing fans are welcomed and treated with respect and hospitality. This characteristic is crucial to our culture as Aggies. I'm sure our tshirt fans can be as annoying as t.u. tshirt fans, the difference is that our fan base isn't diluted.

In other words, an Aggie fan would stop and help a tsip change a tire, a tsip would just drive by laughing.

I don't mind them buying the shirt, or even rooting for them in games, but when I hear we this, and we that, then dumb arses talking down to me about A&M football i get pissed.

If someone wants to act like that go root for an NFL team.

I graduated in 05 and was your typical "non-reg". I am sick of you sips coming over here with your arrogant attitudes. If you have a problem with a joke made on the board and can't take it as tongue in cheek, hit the X at the top right of your screen. If you were truly offended, please get a life and stop preaching to the rest of us.

My wife is second generation Mexican/American. Her whole family is Longhorn fans by either attending (her generation) or "T-shirtdom" (older generations and her generation). What I noticed is in her family, there is a great pride in being an American and Texan. In my opinion, the fact the UT seems to be the most visible university in the state, it seems to make sense to root for the supposed "state" university. Much like how they are huge Dallas Cowboy fans.

I dont discount the fact that many T-shirt tsip fans are bandwagon jumpers. But I dont think thats a ethnic based quality.

AND FYI not all hispanics are Mexicans.

I wish all this touchy feely talk would just stop. I'm Italian and I have been turned down for jobs and my name has been laughed at etc. but life goes on. Just get up and keep going. This board needs to keep political commentray out and think about beating those evil teasippers on Thursday.

I have served in the USAF for 12 years and I am an Iraq combat veteran. My grandfather graduated from aTm and I am a rabid Longhorn fan and have been since I can remember. I did not go to college because I could not afford it so I joined the military. I have spent the last 6 years being a father, serviceman, husband, and student. I have earned the right to root for who ever I want which is and always will be THE University of Texas. There are hundreds of other "t-shirt fans" serving with me which keep the spirit of Texas football alive while fighting and dying for our country. In my opinion you guys are made up of a bunch of fake army "t-shirt military members" who could never make it in the real military so they hide behind a bunch of red-ass *******.

"Since 1876, Texas A&M has produced more than 43,000 commissioned officers serving in all branches of the armed services, of whom more than 225 have reached the rank of general or flag officer."
- Corps of Cadets website

Texas A&M had more serve in WWI than all other institutions combined.

Nice try.

Funny, I have been in the military 12 years, served in 7 different countries and know of exactly 2 aTm officers.

That isn't because ordinary Ag students decided to join the armed forces. You should do more than just read a website. BTW, the US military academies didn't cut the lenghth of their curriculum or lower their admission standard until 1943 or 1944.

After WWI and prior to WWII the isolationist philosophy after the Great War led to the U.S. military being cut to the bare minimum. In the late 30's, with the war sounds increasing in Europe and tensions increasing in the Pacific, military leaders formulated a plan to gain a quantum leap their college educated officer corps. This led to cutting curriculums to two years and pumping men through these institutions. These military leaders decided not to include the US Military Academy or the US Naval Academy in this plan. They remained highly selective (they didn't lower their admission standards or increase their enrollment) and didn't shorten their curriculum until (I believe 1944) when (even with the other plans) the carnage of war was taking its toll on the educated officer corps.

Texas A&Ms location, relatively close to the largest concentration of US military training bases in the nation (with no real airline industry, no interstate highway system, and only trains for long distance travel) it became the largest beneficiary the the pre-WWII plan.

Check your numbers post this anomaly and you'll find that you're bragging about a fantasy. There's no doubt that Texas A&M produces officers for the US military, but it doesn't produce more officers now than any other military institution.

I'm a hispanic who graduated from A&M and I will admit, as a hispanic from South Texas, that they are very much bandwagon t.u. fans.

But it is not limited to t.u., they are also bandwagon Cowboys and Spurs fans as well.

Makes me proud to see the rare classic hispanic cowboy with the wranglers, cowboy boots, cowboy hat, and A&M polo, it's a timeless look that every hispanic Aggie's dad has rocked at one time or the other.
