TexAgs Radio: Jackie Sherrill
Gabe Bock, Brandon Jones and Andrew Kilzer were joined in the TexAgs studio by legendary former Texas A&M Football Coach Jackie Sherrill. The 45-minute interviews covers the entire spectrum of Coach Sherrill's time in Aggieland, including:
-His decision to leave Pittsburgh in 1981 with Dan Marino coming back for his senior year.
-His conversation with his former college coach Paul "Bear" Bryant (Sherrill won two national titles at Alabama) about whether he should take the A&M job.
-His uncanny ability to connect with the student body at Texas A&M, which included attending Bonfire, helping build the stack, engaging in Corps functions and more.
-The idea to form a kickoff unit containing nothing but walk-on players...a group which flourished and became known as the 12th Man Kickoff Team.
-Texas A&M under Mike Sherman...where they are as a program and Sherrill's confidence in Sherman to re-build Aggie Football into a national power once again.
We also talk a lot about Coach Sherrill's book, "No Experience Required," which chronicles the life and journey of the members of the 12th Man Kickoff Team.
