We are not recruiting other programs' walkons and giving them scholarships, so what in the heck does this have to do with recruiting or the state of our program? We have walkon tryouts each year and keep guys from those who have no college playing experience. What's the big deal in taking a walkon from somewhere else? At least we know he's good enough to run scout team. Were you complaining about T.J. Sanders being on the roster at QB for five years? This kid has prototypical size and a decent arm. There's no harm in giving him a chance. Since he's considering Alabama, does that mean their program headed down the crapper? I swear, some people can figure out a way to put a negative twist on everything.

As far as him looking young - yes, he does.

I looked up his 08 rivals profile. he didnt make the top 100 qbs and wasnt even rated by rivals.

Remember this kid wasnt even offered by any school, not even IAA or D2 and you guys are saying hes better than freaking Garrett Gilbert.

JUst remember one thing, this kid was 5th on the SMU's depth chart this year, yes a 1-11 team and he had 3 other freshman in front of him.

The current state of Aggie football is such that many get excited about getting walkon QB's from smu........sad

Can you please explain to me why this kid wasnt offered by 1 school out of high school if hes a cant miss prospect?

Im telling you I witnessed with my own eyes more than 5 practices on the actual field him and the other qb's from SMU throwing routes for an hour at a time and this guy was by far the least accurate and least impressive, and were not talking USC or Florida here, its SMU.

I dont understand all these guys with maroon glasses on. He had a great junior year in High school, therefore he will come in and start for A&M in a year and be up for the Heisman.

Nevermind that he couldnt even dress out for SMU and 3 other freshman in front of him.

The real question is how is he at Wide Reciever?

No word yet on his teammates Sam Gangee and Frodo Baggins

SMU is private.
Alabama is out of state.
HP is a high school.
HP and UA played in the post season this year.

I don't know if I want this kid or not.

I can explain it. At HP, the coaches know who is going to start for each class by early high school. He was 2nd string all throughout middle school and early high school. He worked his butt off sophomore year through senior year, literally getting to the high school by 6am and throwing until school started. Then he would go to practice and stay afterwards til 730pm working out. He did this literally everyday as a backup. Once the starter went down, the team was obviously better and he had great stats for not even a full year. He led a HP team that had lost practically all their starters the year before to the state championship, where they lost to a Gilbert led team. Gamso's HP team would have won that game 9 times out of 10, but that's aside the point.

By the time Gamso had done all of this, every NCAA team had their recruiting class pretty much locked up. It's not like D-1 teams have time to scout every high school team's backup quarterbacks. So obviously he had no offers. Bama flew him down for Sugar Bowl practices this past weekend and have room for him on the team. His stats and videos don't lie. He's worked with Kevin Murray once a week since last year so he's got the fundamentals as well as a strong arm. Let's hope he chooses A&M over Bama because he could be a great quarterback.

Give him a chance I say....who knows!

if he's willing to be a backup here, let him come. more competition at qb never hurts.

the bit about every team in the country being full doesn't really make sense.

Teams add December and January offers all the time. Certainly going that deep into the playoffs gave college programs that much more opportunity to look at him. Every year there are plenty of D1 programs still looking for their quarterback in December and January, and you can bet they're looking in Texas.

If the kid wants to make a change "because of where he lives". Why not just move out of Highland Park, find someplace to pay the rent. He sounds like he is disgruntled because he knows there is another quarterback coming in and his birthright leads him to believe he can just transfer to Bama or A&M and the starting job will be given to him.

We don't have room for Sam McGuffie, but we have room for SMU's scout team QB??

Where does he even say he plans to PLAY FOOTBALL after transferring? No one just up and quits their gig as a walk-on at SMU because they are certain they'll get a Scholly from Bama or A&M. He is saying he's not having fun as the 6th string QB at SMU, and wants to go to school somewhere else. My impression is he wants to move farther away from his family, focus on school, and maybe try to walk on to the team wherever he ends up. What's immature and arrogant about that?

And disguntled because another QB is coming in? He was a WALK-ON and they had two fairly decent QB recruits last year. Why do you think he'd be disgruntled?
