Anyone have access to Ol' Sarge Cartoons? As a tribute to its originator it would sure be nice to post whatever we've got on this thread.

Ol' Sarge is an unique icon that used to adorn a wide assortment of Aggie paraphernalia ie; stickers, pennants, flags, cig lighters, clothing, etc. Remembering back, he seems to have been most popular during the 50's and early sixties. Personally, I feel that the Ol'Sarge image should be marketed more as an icon for A&M. After all, the Corps and it's traditions is Texas A&M and what better ambassador than Ol'Sarge

Trying out an Ol' Sarge mascot was one of Sherill's few mistakes he made here in terms of understanding Aggie traditions and embracing the student body. You should have seen this mascot outfit - it was horrible. This was a disaster from the get go. Maybe someone has photos of this montrocity. If I remember correctly it was burned ceremoniously. 1988 seems to be the year this travesty took place.

In the old DeWare field house they had this cool Old Sarge wall paper with the ATM logo. I wish I could find that.

My favorite Aggie shirt is one my old man had made up for a Bonfire party in the 80's.

Background, fightin' texas Aggie Bonfire, ford pickup with a keg in the back and texas flag flying.

Foreground was Ol Sarge, Beer in one hand (marked with the years and scores A&M had bthot.u. 85-89), the other hand around a girl. Bevo roasting on a fire.

Wish I could reproduce it somehow.

Actually, as much as I didn't like to agree with it, when I worked at Inspirations our stuff with Sarge on it sold so badly it worked its way out of the store.


Does anyone have a picture of the Ol Sarge mascot? I'd love to see it.

One of my kids has one of those Zephyr hats with the "new" Ol Sarge on it... bought it specifically because it DID have the Sarge.

A lot of the New Army likes Ol Sarge... when they can get him.

The store that is called Northgate Bookstore bought out the inventory of a defunct bookstore. In this inventory was a set of small square departmental bumper stickers adorned with Ol' Sarge. I can't find it online, but the Industrial Engineering Dept. has a great one with Sarge checking up on some machinery. Somebody must still have a digital copy of the picture because it seems that all the profs and many grad students have mugs with the cartoon on it.

Ol Sarge is the mascot everyone wants to have at A&M. But theres too many morons that cant accept it. Ol Sarge is alot more badass then lassie i mean rev.
