Man I remember riding my bike around and thinking it was really beautiful and peaceful on campus. Does everyone being so friendly not count for something? I know that's not the aesthetics, but it sure adds to the atmosphere. Ever get on top of one of the garages and look around? It's really cool looking. I like how there's so much room and its spread out. It's a good campus, I thought it was really nice looking...shoot maybe I'm biased.

Agree that the experience involves more than just the aesthetics of the architecture and such. That article was just based on what these campuses look like from an outsiders perspective, so keep that in mind. I agree that the quiet calm of our campus is one of its great appeals. Take a walk out on west campus and head towards the Bush School, there's nothing on tu campus for instance that can match that. I think I'd be constantly stressed out going to school on a campus in a city like Austin or one of the bigger cities.

new MSC? did i miss something??

sounds to me like this guy based his opinion on pictures he saw on our website. not much to go by, but since the website is dull i can see why he had that opinion.

I've been to a game at each of these schools, and you'd be very surprised at how hot okie lite girls are. too many big girls at our school IMO

There's no sugar coating it - we need better architecture and some kind of master plan. The only thing we have going for us are all the oak trees, other than that there is no consistency and little appeal.

As much as it pains me to say, UT-Austin has done a hell of a job creating an aesthetically appealing campus, we could learn a lot from them. I admire their Spanish Renaissance style of architecture every time I'm on the 40 acres. We should definitely develop and invest in a master plan as they have done.

We do have a master plan:

What qualifications do any of you have to judge the beauty of our campus other than, like your a**h***, you have an opinion?

If you refer to the forty acres as anything other than tu or 'sips, you are not an AGGIE!

The Master Plan for the West Campus is obvious: Repeat the Stalinist architecture style of East Berlin. If that's not the Plan, I don't know what is. I couldn't design uglier buildings if I tried.

ZonaAg,

You hit the nail right on the head with your description of West Campus, with the exception of the Bush school.

I stand corrected, you couldn't tell by looking at the campus. Perhaps we need a better one.

That's not the problem, either. Our master plan is great. The problem is that we only recently (within the past 2 or so) implemented it. It will take some time before those efforts are realized.

So you say atm has the least amount of attractive girls in the big 12 south, "most definitely," yet on your list you have them ahead of someone else.

Beautiful? No !; Ugly? No !; Nice? Yes, very nice. Impressive? Yes, very impressive. I'll take the A&M campus any day over most universities. The architecture is not consistent and it is not asthetically "charming" as some of the Ivy League types might say about their campuses.
I think that the Yale campus is ugly. And I think that the Va Tech campus is exceptionally attractive. (Just my opinions.) And I really like Aggieland. Seeing Welcome to Aggieland on the water tower still makes me proud.

It seems that since the seventies we've been trying to add modern architecture, which looks cool in its time (The new Chem building looks sweet), but in the coming years they will begin to look dated.

I wish our schools architecture was in the greek revival school, or at least consistent with each other.

Our campus does need some work aesthetically, but this guy lost all credibility when he made fun of what we call our campus...

That has absolutely nothing to do with how beautiful it is.

A&M @ Galveston.

1. those building could withstand an ICBM direct hit.

1. the Earth could get sucked into a black hole and A&M Galveston would rip the vortex.

That list is bogus. I like the A&M campus, it doesnt fit in with those others. Tech and Angelo State belong on that list though...

We have a plan, and it is a good one. Watch for this campus to become much more coherent and aesthetically pleasing in the next 20 years (assuming this plan isn't scrapped.)

I went to UT Dallas for Grad School. It looks like the reject set from Buck Rogers meets an incompetent maintenance staff.

Unfortunately, architecture is the one area in which we are perpetually losers to Texas Tech.

Sadly, since the original Victorian architecture at A&M was incredible.

How many of you are architects? I am! Whooppy!

As far as you "brick" critics go, most of the newer, larger structures are precast or post tensiond concrete. Kyle Field is a combination of cast in place and prestressed concrete.

An on a funny note: When I filled out my application to enter The Agricultural & Mechanical Colege of Texas, I answered the Church preference question with "Red Brick" and was almost not allowed in. The Architecture Department was on the non air-conditioned fourth floor of the Academic Building. Global cooling back then!

Tech's campus actually doesn't look bad especially when you consider how big it is. I believe I heard it is the second largest by real estate connected in the nation behind the USAFA which has land for exercises.

Tech's buildings look like they have a spanish theme.

Oh, and they have hot women too. Even though they may have the Lubbock clap.

We need to get away from the bland look.
txaggies07

I heard something about Tech being big too, but everything I found says tech is at like 1800 acres and A&M is at like 5200 acres.

If you want to see an ugly campus, go to TAMU- Galveston. My son had deep intertest in going there but one five minute visit shot that down.

I love my family...
