When I heard we were hiring someone from the Tennessee staff I was hoping it was David Cutcliffe (great OC) or Trooper Taylor, their AHC for Player Development and Wide Receivers coach.

Trooper is a high intensity coach who is very well regarded in the business. He is an outstanding recruiter and would be a great addition to our staff if we could steal him away. He also has texas roots having graduated from Cuero high school and then from Baylor.

From looking at his coaching history I do not believe he has ever crossed paths with Sherman.

I'm sure Bruce Warwick will be a great addition to our staff but if we are looking for a good wide receivers coach to fill out our staff, we should keep Trooper Taylor in mind.

I played against Trooper Taylor in the Area Round of high school playoffs back in 86'.

wow, it has been a long time since i heard that name. i am a gobbler and he was one of those guys coachs always bragged on. don't know about his coaching but he's a gobbler, he has to be good

He is the kind of position coach we need to fill out our staff.
I hope Mike and Bill consider him when they are looking for position coaches. He is a former DB but has experience coaching WRs and RBs.

Here is to hoping the new football operations addition Bruce Warwick that we plucked away from Tennessee recommends Trooper Taylor.

Living in TN, I hear about him all the time. He is a great recruiter and the kind of coach that players love. Very active on the sidelines, etc.

We need to steal their damn QB coach. He's the same guy that taught Peyton in college, and he's worked wonders with Erik Ainge.

Here is a story about Trooper. After graduating from A&M, i went on Young Life Staff in Paris TX. Two of the my kids were being recruited by Tulane. Trooper came out on a weekend and ended up staying for a few days...so he came out to Young Life Club. We played a game that night where we brought up three people, and dumped a can of chili in three diapers. The first person to eat all their chili won. Trooper volunteered to be one of the contestants, and won!

He seemed like a really genuine guy, and made my high school friend feel really comfortable and wanted. His brother was a Texas Commit, but ended up switching over to Tulane because he felt more valued and wanted w/ Coach Taylor.

He would be great on the A&M staff! All you have to do to point him out during a game is look for the person jumping up and down after almost every play!

Would love to get Troop back in the great state of Texas and recruiting for the Ags. He's widely regarded as one of the best in the business. That would be quite a hire!

I don't even use that screen name anymore.

That was 16 years ago? Haha! I feel old now.

Trooper Taylor is one of those folks that knows everyone, and anything in college football. He's been everywhere and has coached a ton of elite players.
Tremendous pickup for the new football staff.

His prowess on the recruiting trail is 2nd to none.
