There was a thread on here a few months (maybe a year back) that had someone talk about driving cattle east into Louisiana. I've scrolled back and clicked on a number of threads where I thought it might be but can't seem to find it anywhere.

Anyone recall that story/thread? I mentioned that to someone over the weekend and now want to read about it further.

Don't know of the thread but yes, cattle and horses as early as the late 1700's to New Orleans. Lasted well until after the Civil War.
