I've done some research on the paper dates.

Here is the correct Thursday, November 23, 1939, Battalion Front Page:

Saturday, November 25, 1939, Front Page

Tuesday, November 28th, 1939 Front Page

Thanksgiving was Thursday, November 30th, and the next paper was printed on Thursday, December 7, 1939 (1940 was a leap year)

Always loved walking past Scoates late at night after late test or an all nighter.

This is Scoates Hall. Built in 1932.

It was the home of the Agricultural Engineering Dept. (now the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Dept.). In 2015, the Dept. celebrated its centennial. It's an architectural gem. It's quite unique, especially if you're interested in agricultural machinery.

The State Chemist Building (1909) looks like it's another tan brick building, but it's actually red brick painted a yellowish tan color. If you look down near the base of the building you can see some of the brick chipped away.

That building was demolished a couple of years ago. The replacement is soulless, modern, and out on Agronomy.

The expansive clays in the BCS area destroyed the foundations of many of those original buildings. In the early part of the 1900's the technology was not available to economically retrofit the foundations of those old buildings. It was easier to tear them down and rebuild with better foundations.

I thought the problem was that they were basically brick shells with wooden interiors, which made them fire traps.

I didn't see Hart Hall listed, from 1931
