Pre 1950? There's quite a few. Most of the inner campus surrounding the Academic Building.

My minor contribution to campus, I was one of the students that re-stenciled Cushing.

An added benefit was the spectacular parking we got that 6-7 months.

Fun fact, one of the gold stars was painted upside down.

A lot of very nice buildings were lost over the decades.

Always loved walking past Scoates late at night after late test or an all nighter.

That particular square on that part of main campus that houses all those buildings always gave me the goosebumps . The history of that era of TAMU for me shines. When I'd walk through there, I always had my Night at the Museum delusion scenarios.

Good to see Cushing look like that. In the 1990s, it was basically crammed full of stuff and you couldn't appreciate it.

Fermier was built in 1919.

Then:

Now:

Thompson Hall was also built in 1922.

Have had a considerable number of classes in both and I fervently wish that they would just implode and fall apart one day. Was kinda surreal going from a ****ty basement dungeon "class" to a super sleek and modern one at the new Zachry and then go back to the ancient nastiness for the next class.

A lot of the really old buildings were gutted, and only the outer shell retained. All new interiors were built. It's kind of a shame, and I wish I had explored more of the old buildings when I was a student.

There are no buildings left from the first 33 years of Texas A&M. Kind of a shame, the foundation of Aggieland is simply a ghost, now.

Oldest 10 existing buildings

Nagel Hall 1909
Legget Hall 1911
Milner Hall 1911
Bolton Hall 1911
Sibisa 1912
YMCA 1913
Academic 1914 (I always thought it was 1912. Perhaps these were completion dates?)
Central Utility Plant 1915
Butler Hall 1916
Pavillion - 1916 (old animal science barn)

Always expected the Ghostbusters to be sighted fighting a sparkling chick with a flattop and two large dogs on top of that building.

Is this the old "Animal Industries Building", the one with a ghost?

There is about to be one less. The VPSA's "White House" which was built in 1939 and designed by Fred Giesecke is going to be demolished.

The plans for the remade Aggie Park kept the VPSA's home. Banks apparently decided in the last few weeks to just tear it out.

I don't know if it still is, but Fermier was basically the Industrial Distribution building when I was in school.

The plaster on the walls was literally falling apart in some of the classrooms. I have to hope that it has undergone some sort of renovation in the last 15-20 years.

Scoates was a veterinary school building originally. It was the Agricultural Engineering Building when I was there and still today I think. It's no longer the only Agricultural Engineering Building. A bunch moved north of the RR tracks. I always loved that building. Has a great mural around the large lecture hall.

The last vestiges of the original horse shoe of Kyle went down when they renovated it. If you ever have a chance to go to Alabama to watch the Ags play, you can see their old stadium is still there under all the new stuff.

1. I am confused. The date on the Battalion is "Tuesday, November 23, 1939". However, November 23, 1939 was a Thursday. November 23, 1939 was noteworthy because FDR moved Thanksgiving that year from the previous traditional day of the last Thursday of November (November 30th) to November 23 to help businesses by adding one more shopping weekend before Christmas. This was somewhat controversial at the time, occasionally referred to as "Franksgiving" by some, and defied by some states' governors. Was the date on the Battalion an error?

2. Shouldn't Guion Hall be visible in the background of the photo of the Quad?

2) I don't think that is a photo of campus but an artists rendering.

1) Check the preceding and succeeding copies of the Batt. The banner may have just been flubbed when they were setting it.

Would have to look up when Texas celebrated Thanksgiving that year.

I think Guion is visible. Find the gap between dorms 4 and 6 and look directly above that
