Luckily, after this early period, local governments got much better with records. I can trace the rest of the line through census data and death certificates.
The Mormon Genealogy Library at BYU is a very reliable resource.

Just received my acceptance notecard from National SAR. My patriot ancestor was from France and fought under Galvez is the Battle of Baton Rouge. He later fought under Andrew Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans. He must have been a badass. When I have time, I hope to determine where he is buried. Perhaps in Grand Coteau area or Lake Charles? That won't be an easy task as all the simple methods have yielded nothing thus far.
