Out of nowhere, I have been informed that my Dad has been seeing a kidney specialist (presumably a Nephrologist) in Waco and apparently he has been told he has kidney failure. I was just informed yesterday, so I know very little about the situation. I would like for him to get a second opinion from Nephrologist in the DFW area. Does anyone have any recommendations for Nephrologists in the DFW area?

Apologies in advance if this is not the correct forum for this topic.

I will talk to some docs tomorrow morning and ask who we refer our patients to. Sorry I didn't see this earlier.

Dr Chris Hebert is a good friend and id trust anyone in my family with him. He's a nephrologist. Good luck to your dad

Spoke with one of our docs and the main 2 guys we refer out to are Dr. Robert Farkas and Dr. Michael Landgarten. He said both are fantastic, but he typically leans towards Dr. Landgarten. Both are with North Texas Kidney Disease Associates.

I'll ask another doc when he gets here.

2nd doc suggested Dr. Chris Hebert or Dr. Gates Colbert (they used to be partners). He did say he heard Dr. Hebert has moved into concierge medicine these days, but I don't know. Bottlerocket can maybe confirm.

2nd thing he said was if you are looking for a 2nd opinion, you could also look at going to a UT Southwestern or MD Anderson. That way if there does has to be treatment/procedures done, you're already tied into a big hospital system.

Dr. Gates Colbert is a great guy and excellent doc as well. He's with Kidney and Hypertension Associates of Dallas at Baylor.
