Does anybody have any herbal remedies for common ailments?

I feel like as a culture, we have lost the knowledge that our forefathers had. You go to the doctor and they throw a pill at you.

I have personal experience with this. At one of the zoos I worked at, I got a staph infection that was antibiotic resistant. For the first occurrence, they gave me a pill, and the boil went away after about a week. It happened a second time. This time, they gave me a pill and a shot, and it went away in about a week. Then, it happened for a 3rd time. Obviously, whatever they were giving me was not solving the issue. I decided to look into a natural remedy. My sister suggested oil of oregano. I took the pills and applied it topically (with a carrier oil) and the boil disappeared two days and I never got it again.

I would, of course, never not go to the doctor; but, I would actually like to solve the problem instead of in some instances masking the problem.

For colds I like a thumb size piece of ginger sliced, about 5 or 6 dried Asian plums, honey to taste in enough water to make a cup of tea. Steep that for about 15 minutes and the drink the liquid.

You can put the ginger and plums in a ziplock and refrigerate and reuse up to 5 times. Then eat the ginger and plums. Learned it from a friend that does a lot of Chinese medicine.

Fresh ginger tea with sore Asian plums work. I used to get colds all the time and if you listen to your body one knows how to prevent problems. I have been using a product called Wellness Formula, caplets. Has helped prevent problems when you do not have time to be sick.
