Yeah, my son is a HS XC runner who stalks these guys on Strava. It's a very personal loss for a lot of people.

The man was almost undoubtedly going to be the first to break 2 hours in competition, and I thought we were also going to be blessed with a Kiptum vs Kipchoge race in Paris this summer. This is awful. A tragic loss for the running community and for his kids and wife he left behind.

It's so sad -- marathoning is obviously a niche sport so this isn't getting the publicity that a similar death in another sport would, but this is like Patrick Mahomes dying in a car crash. Dude was going to do things that are hard to fathom at that distance.

Yeah, but not even Mahomes. More like an 18 - 24 YO Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Mike Tyson. Total dominance so early in their careers.
