Lagunitas hop water is my favorite. Better than NA beer if you ask me.

It seems like some breweries, at least around me, are really working to cater to the N/A lifestyle more. Great Heights is selling Athletic Brews and New Magnolia recently released their own hop water, which I had last night while my friend had some beers, and it was fantastic! I hope more breweries start to do this.

Thanks for the tip on the New Magnolia Hop Water, will go check it out. I wish more of the local breweries would make a version of it.

It was really good. The beertender and I were in agreement that it needs to be canned as it would kill during summer months. He also said he hopes they keep doing different hop waters experimenting with different hops.

Wish I could come these hop waters around. Sound interesting.

Last night was my first test of Dryuary, and it wasn't so bad. I usually have a carve-out for the CFP championship game, but I may just power through.

I'm fighting a sweet tooth more than usual since the beginning of the year. Kind of a pain

Not to be that guy referenced prior, but the most satisfying feeling is when you abstain when it's most tempting not to.

I feel awesome the morning after big sporting events when I'm not hungover and decided to stick to the plan when I used to get drunk in such an occasion. Everyone's plan is different so no hate here!

Enjoying this national championship game without beers just fine. Just wish it was a little more exciting.

The New Magnolia Hop Water is very tasty. I saw that St. Arnold has it on tap as well so may have to go check it out.

I cheated last night and had a drink. But it was because we were out celebrating that I accepted a new job. So I'm not too bothered by it.

i'm holding strong, but its tough. I'm back in texas while the family is in wisconsin. One more week before i head back up to get them. No wife, no kids, no dogs. The house is way too quiet and lonely. I'd call friends, but they' want to go to a brewery or something.

I think New Magnolia has a lot more of a flavor profile than the St Arnolds. NM adds citric acid where as I think SA just dry hops water. Either way, both are a great NA option to enjoy at the brewery, but given the option I take NM all day.

No dogs? That's ruff.

Seriously, though, I feel ya. My wife takes the kids to La Crosse to see her family for weeks at a time while I stay home and work. It is always a tough time. I used to enjoy the quiet/alone time of having a house to myself. Now, the chaos of the family being home is like a soothing white noise. Its absence causes anxiety.

Hang in there. I'd say "go for some long trail runs," but I always want a beer afterward and am guessing that is the same with you.

only reason i'm home and not working from WI is that i had a work trip I had to take...then it got canceled. I've been doing projects around the house, but even those aren't really filling my time very well. been watching a lot of tv, which isn't very fulfilling.

I'm sticking to my training schedule, and unfortunately i'm early in the cycle, so my runs aren't super long right now. Just gotta get through 6 more days and then I fly back up to join them for a few days before we start the trek back to texas.

I guess that explains why the NM version is so citrusy... I thought it was all from the hops.

Had a little wine on Saturday and a beer yesterday. I did feel a little twinge of guilt that I cheated a little, only because of this thread. But, I'll hop right back on, no problem, and probably go until the weekend before Valentine's.

I rarely drink anymore. I've really only ever been a social drinker and as a parent there's not much socializing anymore. The only time of the year I drink regularly is the summer at the community pool. I never really sit around the house having a drink unless I've had a rough day. I grew up in a house where my dad had a couple of drinks every night after work. I get up around 4:00 during the week, if I have any booze I feel like garbage in the morning, plus it messes up my sleep. I've become more boring than I ever would have imagined a decade ago.

Nice. Some people want/need to cut back and dry January is a good time to feel not alone in accomplishing a goal. It's a good mental test if nothing else.

Most alcoholic beverages carry way too many calories and as such cutting it out significantly, just like sugary sodas, cuts your weight down big time. I highly encourage anyone on the fence with weight issues to try it for a month. Add sugary sodas (diet soda won't make you fat) to the dry list and you will be amazed how much you lose if you just keep your regular dietary habits the same. It's a great place to start when learning how to account for macros.

I now have alcoholic beverages as a treat with a cheat meal or on special occasions. As such, I have to limit them greatly as I have no tolerance so generally its just a beer or glass or whatever with said cheat meal. Otherwise, I go straight into hangover. Like, I skip the drunk/tipsy feeling all together and start to get a headache. Takes a lot of the fun out of it, which is a very good thing. Good luck to all of you who decide to join in.

Well done. I've been eating like garbage, but have still managed to drop holiday weight simply because I'm not crushing IPAs all weekend.

Thanks!

Last month I was having BP issues and it was getting pretty high up there. 190s over 100 at times and I felt it.
This morning it was 117/77. Feeling great.

52 days no booze as of today!

My good news is that Vegas turned out to be easy because I had an excruciating sinus headache the entire week. I spent a small fortune on bottled water because I was drinking gallons of it to stay hydrated, but wasn't even tempted to drink anything else.

Had a margarita with friends who were visiting this past weekend. It was actually a good motivator because it put me to sleep. I was pissed at myself for it because of what I missed being tired that day, but am just going to push on. I plan on extending up to Super Bowl Sunday. Really, though, I think this year is the year that my relationship with alcohol changes permanently. It's long over fuggin' due at this point. I don't think I'll ever fully abstain, but life is so much more enjoyable without dulled senses. It is nice to remind myself of that from time to time. That, and the most successful people I know don't even drink. Wonder what could have been sometimes...but then I just have a beer and not worry about it. Ha.
