Best therapy for golfer and tennis elbow? I bought a therabar and that has helped.

How is it doing now? You still able to keep up with your mileage?
Sorry for the delay! It's mostly better. I've been able to up my mileage with minimal pain during my runs, if any (I would say maybe one run per week out of 5). Though last week was a rough week of training and I could feel it when I was doing some yoga as being really tight again.

Edit: up until last week, when I would stretch my right calf, I could actually get the stretch into the calf muscle rather than feel like whatever attaches to my heel was going to rip off my foot. This week it's back to that ripping feeling again, but that was gone for about 3 weeks.

How did it start? I like to do aggressive tissue work and dry needling for this area followed up with TheraBar and slowly building back up with weights.

Might be time to go see someone about it and get some treatment and a little more direction so it doesn't slow you down going forward.

Weightlifting.

Sounds like I need to go see Arrostti.

What's a general timeline after shoulder surgery before you can go skiing/snowboarding or offshore fishing?

Which surgery?

Labrum tear. Reattaching the bicep tendon.

Haven't actually done any discussion with a surgeon yet. Did 2 months of PT. Now starting to go to the gym and keeping up with the same movements and exercises as PT.

You should be good by ski season with the labrum. Obviously if you aren't a great ski/snowboarder that changes the calculus. Reeling arm or stabilizing arm for fishing?

Pole arm. Left arm and I'm right handed. And I'm the odd person who sets up spinning reels with the handle on the right side.

This might take a while especially with the bicep tendon impacted. Fishing is lot of work on the bicep tendon when using the pole hand to stabilize. I would give it another few months before doing this.

Thanks,

Trying to look down the road for next year vacation and fishing plans.

Started going to the gym so that I can strengthen everything, and lose weight.

Going to see how everything goes and go from there to determine when to do surgery down the road.

Tweaked my right hammy this past week. Any tips between now and race day in 10 days? Apart from RICE I mean. It's just kind of achy. Nothing crazy.

I also have a massage gift card I could use. Is that wise this close to race? I don't mind using it for something like a sports massage.

Use the gift card. It's totally worth it to get some relief.

I have been having some shoulder pain, and have self diagnosed it as a coracoid issue. Is there a stretch that can help with this? I don't know why it started hurting, but it hasn't been much fun.

What makes you think it is a coracoid issue and not the short head of the biceps issue? Need a little more background on this issue to get a better idea of how to help. Any trauma? You lift a lot?

Asking for a friend of mine in NYC. He sent this this morning to me.

"I gotcha. Where my 2nd toe, meets the foot, on the ball, has been hurting a bit. Trying to figure that out."

Just that the reading was pretty spot-on. Can't think of any way I might've injured it, and no I don't do any lifting to speak of. I'm 60, I run, ride, and row. Most lifting I do is a 5gallon bucket of water a couple times a day until we get more rain

Could be a neuroma but those are usually most prominent between 2nd/3rd and 3rd/4th metatarsal. Need more content to understand the injury here.

The coracoid process is the attachment of the short of the biceps. It can for sure be a source of pain. Also serves as the attachement of the pecs. It is most likely one of these causing your pain. Get a lacrosse or a foam roller and doing some work on the area to see if you can stretch it out. If it doesnt improve over the next few weeks go see someone about it.

Were you a throwing athlete when you were younger? Are you still having specific pain the distal clavicle? Adding in external rotation to the shoulder is a good way to activate the lower traps. The Y exercise is nice for this as long you aren't having any impingement in the shoulder. Hangs on pull up bar are good for this too with palms facing towards you.

No, and it's my off shoulder. Most pain is from shoulder into lower biceps. I'll try hanging, as you said. Think rowing is okay?
aggiederelict
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Rowing should be ok but be mindful of your grip. Go palms down.

Started having left knee pain while training for a half, it would be twingy and slightly painful for the first mile and then it would settle in. Now, I'm really feeling it while doing squats and lunges at Orange Theory and pretty much can't do any of those types of exercises on my left side. I've never had knee pain before, is there a good set of exercise that could help or should it try and see a dr?

Where exactly is the pain? Any swelling?

Just below the kneecap, between the kneecap and that round bone below the knee, almost feels like what growing pains felt like as a teenager.

Sounds like some patellar tendonitis. You need to back for a bit and focus on hamstrings to get stronger. And then work your way up to get your quads stronger without pissing off the tendon. Where are you located?

I have had some pain in my middle finger where it meets the hand. Actually not sure if its the knuckle joint or not.

Some pain when pushing down with the middle finger tip, but much worse when pressure is on the finger horizontally (towards other fingers).

My Achilles tendon is popping when I walk on it. It's not painful, but I can feel it. It usually happens after a long run or if I go on a ruck and won't go away until I take a week off. It really messes up my training routine.

Is this something that I should see someone about or is there a stretch that I need to incorporate?

Thanks!

You currently doing any stretching?

Yes. I typically walk a mile then light stretch before I run.
