The tennis elbow brace can today. I was skeptical when I took it out of the packaging, but I've been wearing it for a couple of hours and my arm actually feels a little better.

Fellow tennis elbow sufferer. I've been using the flexbar for about a month now, and its barely improved. Trying not to lose hope but its tough

Re tennis elbow: I was chatting with a friend at my fitness studio yesterday who happens to also be dealing with this. Her PT recommended sleeping in a wrist/hand brace - the kind you wear for carpal tunnel.

I bought one yesterday and wore it last night and the difference in both my sleep and how my arm feels this am is noticeable! I didn't wake up in pain during the night, and my arm hurts a lot less this morning. I can also use it more.

My Therabar came in yesterday, too, so I'm going to spend some time doing the exercise today.

No diagnosis and it isn't severe with the walking.

Mostly an observation on my part, and saw a possible correlation to his athleticism.

I have been diagnosed with osteopenia and would like to try to treat it without taking any medication. I heard a podcast about the LIFTMOR study where the participants increased their bone density doing HiRIT. Do you know of anyone in Austin who is using this protocol with their patients?

You are moving in the right direction. It can be a slow process.

I have prior issues with my Achilles tendon. Good news is it's been fine for several years.

Sunday after riding my Peloton the area to the left and right of the AT became sore to the touch. I can walk and ride without pain. There is no swelling. My skin is slightly red and splotchy between my ankle and calf.

I've used the RICE method and taken ibuprofen a couple of times/day. Also performing PT exercises I received during my last bout of AT issues.

Is this Achilles tendinitis or something else?

I've had a DVT before but that presented as a swollen calf muscle. Calf is not swollen.

Thanks.

Posted this in another thread but wanted to post it here to. Out of nowhere in early June I started having some left knee swelling and pain that I hadn't had before. I rested a little but still did some light running (never more than 1.5 miles) and kept lifting on my Tonal. Had my MRI today and got these results, now wondering what next steps might be (doc hasn't called me yet). Haven't seen an ortho yet, but my primary doc is an active dude who does some sports med stuff (why I chose him) so we'll see what he says

Quote:

IMPRESSION
COMPARISON: None.

TECHNIQUE: Routine MRI of the left knee was performed without contrast.

FINDINGS:

MEDIAL COMPARTMENT: Focal 2.0 x 0.5 cm full-thickness cartilage defect along the posterior weightbearing surface of the medial femoral condyle. No underlying subchondral edema. The medial meniscus is normal without evidence of tear.

LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Small zone of high-grade and full thickness cartilage fissuring along the posterior aspect of the tibial plateau without underlying subchondral edema. The lateral meniscus is normal without evidence of tear.

PATELLOFEMORAL JOINT: Full-thickness cartilage fissure at the patellar apex with trace underlying subchondral edema. Small joint effusion and popliteal cyst. No osteocartilaginous bodies are identified.

LIGAMENTS AND TENDONS: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, medial collateral ligament, iliotibial band, fibular collateral ligament and biceps femoris tendons are intact. The popliteus muscle and tendons are normal. There is no evidence of injury to the posterolateral corner supporting structures.

EXTENSOR MECHANISM: The quadriceps and patellar tendons are normal. The medial retinaculum, medial patellofemoral ligament, and lateral retinaculum are normal.

MARROW AND SOFT TISSUES: There is no abnormal signal or evidence of soft tissue mass.

IMPRESSION:
1. 2.0 x 0.5 cm area of full-thickness cartilage loss along the posterior weightbearing surface of the medial femoral condyle.
2. Mild chondromalacia in the lateral and patellofemoral compartment.
3. Small joint effusion and popliteal cyst.
4. Intact ligaments and menisci.

I'm 5'9 210. Yes the charts say I'm obese but I'm a built guy with a muscular lower body and a little extra in the belly, but not dad bod potbelly. Still could stand to lose some pounds.

I was really hoping to get back on the soccer field but sprinting does not feel good, and neither does running (my runs are 5k and less).

Even certain movements on my Tonal (squats, lunges, etc) are really uncomfortable.

That meniscus issue in the medial compartment is a concern based on the location and size of it. Surgery might be in your future. I will be curious to what they say.

You mean cartilage issue right, not meniscus?

I have no point of reference on how large a 2.0cm x .5 cm area is in terms of these types of issues.

Yes the cartilage defect could be a problem at that size.

Hey derelicit,

Question for you. I have a torn labrum in my left shoulder as well as some bicep tearing on that same side. I am trying to get back into running, however, I have pretty severe pain on that side after I reach about half a mile. I try to stop the shoulder from moving when I am swinging my arms, however, the pain gets so bad that I have to stop and walk.

Do you think this is likely due to my shoulder issues or could something else be at play? Anything I can do to reduce the pain on that side while running?

It's tough because I am so limited in lifting weights due to the injury but love being physically active
