Just got a Peloton bike

I'v said it before but adding Matt may have been the turning point for the firm from a usage standpoint. Originally it seemed like they were trying to hire the goodie two shoes nice guy trainer to offset the more aggressive and explicit coaches but implementing the PZ classes really attracted the more tactically oriented riders and really expanding the ridership.

I'm going to do another FTP test today. My 1st week of PZ rides seemed to be too easy. I looked at my heart rate zones on my watch post ride and I'm spending most of my time in Zone 2. I think I was a bit timid on my initial FTP test.

It's great having a bike at home. I'm getting in at least 4 rides a week now.

Just completed my retest. I got nothing left. Tank is empty. I'm not dead. I guess I did it right.

Compared my heart rate zones to my PZ rides this week. Much better results. 7% in both Zones 1 and 2. 46% of my time in Zone 3. 33% Zone 4. 4% in Zone 5 according to my watch linked to a heart monitor.

The rides should be more interesting going forward.

I love Matt. But Steven Little had already started cultivating this group of riders prior to Matt coming on board. Also, I don't think it was so much the coaches but rather the explosive growth of the platform, which included more folks who were riders and/or serious about their metrics and fitness that has led to the ever escalating numbers in the PZ programming.

I got back on the bike yesterday for the first time in like 6 months. Started with Kendall's Metallica ride. It was really tough on my soft legs. Gotta start somewhere.

You people are crazy. Lol KT is no joke!

I've started to take sadistic pleasure in ambushing people in non-PZ rides in between challenges or when I get a non PZ day on my schedule. That time at sustained resistance really pays off when some of those jackrabbits in other classes try to pace you. Lot of fun seeing the PZ training stack up.

I'd take a class or two with each instructor to get a feel for who you vibe with. On the bike, in the class section, you can search for music you like and see which rides feature those groups to get you started.

I second btho, take try out several instructors. Find out who you click with ( I love Denis and Matt, Becs is great for the treadmill). I'd suggest 30min rides to start, depending on your current fitness. Eventually, you'll come to the PowerZone side.

Take a few of the low impact rides to get a good feel for the bike and pedaling technique. Wish I had done that first.

Also find the Christine D'Ercole fit video to get a good starting point. Wish I had done that first too.

Definitely plan on low impact. Pre Covid I was working out daily including tennis a couple of times a week, but right now I'm going to start with some very low-energy, short classes, starting next week.

I'd suggest the "Discover Your Power Zones" program to start. I got the bike and started riding in late July and that program really got me on track to get back in shape.

Y'all probably know this already but,

You can download all your workouts as an Excel spreadsheet from the Peloton website. Go to your workouts and there is a download button on the upper right.

Nice, thanks! Been walking everyday since I got out of the hospital last Monday, and am too impatient to wait until next week. Got my bike shoes delivered last night and gonna ride a bit today. The cleats didn't come with the shoes, guess there are different types based on the pedal. Ugh!

it was SO hard! I took a week off since I was at my parent's for Thanksgiving and holy cow...my legs are dead.
