OK if competition scares them, even though they will have state of the art facilities and production, then so be it. Not to mention the pre-existing built in fan base.
Next thing you know there will be Mental Health for Peloton Trainers Ride that they do for themselves

The Lizzo ride was definitely an stretch as well.

If I'm looking to co-brand a piece of exercise equipment, not sure I pick the woman who celebrates her obesity.

Say what you want, I do not like Lizzo either, but that was the largest live ride theyve done. Last I checked it was going to surpass all previous rides to be the most popular.

I actually don't mind her music. Just not who I would hitch my wagon to.

I did a little googling and she claims to have dropped some weight so maybe she's finally admitting that 300 pounds isn't her healthy body weight. Maybe she's crediting Peloton for that? Maybe I should watch the ride before I talk ***** So many questions!

See what you did there.
But seriously, better attended than T-day one from years ago?

I dont get it: my wife thought it was great.

Checking their social media accounts, the lizzo post resulted the highest engagement year to date which = advertisement.

I have to admit I probably helped with the SM engagement by clicking to play the video a few times, but my reason for doing it was to show a couple other people how unattractive the video was compared to the content they typically release.

However, with a high % of people being obese, it was good to show that people of all fitness levels can use the bike to better their health. I'm sure that many people were inspired to get back on the bike or to start riding. I'm guessing their largest target demographic could afford to lose some weight and aren't fitness enthusiasts.

Is it called top gun ride? I couldn't find it

I'm not Spreadsheet, but the ride he was referring to was the 45 minute 80s Ride from 6/21/22. The ride has some other 80's stuff in there, but the second half of the ride is Top Gun.

If you're not using auto resistance, are you simply paying for the swivel screen?

Swivel screen is great for strength and stretching workouts; turn it XX-degrees depending on your room and workout area and do those on the bike screen...

The auto adjust is great too because it has the extrapolation math built in... so if your resistance range is 30-40 and you're at 34... then they change the range to 40-55; it does the math to put you at 46 (40% of the 15 pt range (6) plus the minimum range setting (40)) ... then if you want to manually adjust from there you just do it and it will recalculate for the next range / interval.

I have a question for you guys (and girls). A brief background...I got my bike in December of 18 (or maybe 19), and it has never been calibrated. I recently did some fairly expansive maintenance on it, and finally recalibrated it.

My question to you all, is the calibration more likely to get off to the high side (power output greater than expected) or to the low side (power output lower than expected)? Hopefully that makes some semblance of sense.

The reason for the question, is my first ride after calibration, I reset my 45 min PR (795 -> 842), and even then, it seemed like I left some on the table. I would like to think my actual progress has been that good, but not sure. Also, I realize it might not be that important as long as the FTP is taken after calibration. It was more just for curiosity and mental boost.

Thoughts?

Not really an answer to your question…but the original bike is notoriously bad for higher than actual outputs. I watched a lot of reviews before buying the plus and everyone I watched they said they had to reset all their PRs because they weren't even coming close.

I'm a big fan of maintenance and taking care of things. Care to explain what you did and is it recommended by peloton? I'm interested in this

I wasn't cleaning it properly (wiping it down at the appropriate frequency), so that begin a good bit of rust build up, primarily on the left side of the bike. I removed the pedals and crank and removed all the rust. Checked the pedals and lower bearing to make sure those were functioning correctly and had no damage. I read somewhere they recommend replacing the pedals every 6 months...uh no. Essentially gave it a good cleaning, lubricated necessary parts, and recalibrated. All things are recommended by Peloton, and should have been done long before now.

ETA: I wasn't having any issues with the bike, but it was visibly obvious it needed to be done.

I sweat heavily and wipe the bike down after every ride. I'll inspect it today. Is there a suggested lubricant? I'm assuming you hit it at all rotational parts: pedals, crank and wheel

I used a lubricant that I get from my work, but is not readily available. It has to be purchased in bulk quantities from a distributor. There is a dry lubricant that is recommended (I forget the name) on a Peloton forum, but last I checked it was not available. Any dry lubricant should be sufficient. All rotating parts.

Another thing I changed out was the "L" handles that lock the saddle and screen in place. The original parts have plastic handles, and I broke on of them. I replaced them with a zinc cast model obtained from McMaster-Carr.

Doesn't need to be in the garage if you're a heavy sweater and dripping sweat (salt water) on it on a regular basis….

I sweat profusely on that peloton too and its inside the house with a 72-74 degree temp. Always wiping it down afterwards and I keep a wrap on the handles that I wash ever so often. I probably need to do the same though in terms of keeping an eye on the pedals and hard to reach areas that sweat may slip into

This helps: Amazon Peloton Handlebar Wrap

Cool looking thing, but would be too bulky for me (yes I know I have OCD issues). What is remarkable is the thing is 17 dollars, but you can pay 90 additional dollars for "expert installation"....lol

Which is funny, because the one I have slides on and off easily, the one I linked is a different model but I think it would be hilarious to order expert installation and video it

He's very hit or miss on milestones and it has gotten worse since Covid as people have nothing to do but run/ride.

A person I follow was hitting ride 2,000 tomorrow which I find crazy. I want to do a study of the predictability of an eating/exercise disorder based on number of Peloton classes.

I thought they had said a while back that they were going to stop doing ride #x shoutouts and would only be doing things like birthdays, etc. Or was that just one instructor? I haven't taken a live ride in so long, I have no idea what they are actually doing now.

Would it be the number of rides or average duration? Id you do a warmup and cool down with every class 2k isn't so tough to get.

I'll get credit for 4 classes tomorrow with only 40 minutes of actually riding when I test my FTP ( 2 warmups, the test and cooldown).

I would probably look at everything-
Number of classes
Types of classes
Length of classes
When classes are taken
Age
Location
Instructor

Agreed. I was just pointing out that, should someone want to, they could really inflate their ride numbers.

Exactly, 6 10min classes versus 1 60min PZE ride. I've frequently thought going by time would be a more equitable metric.

How did this go? Also, I have #1000 coming up soon, but very few are cool down or warm up rides.

I do wish it would have maybe two different counts. One for rides that were actual rides (even a 10 minute climb or something would count) and then one that was just warm-up and cool-down. I'm going to hit 600 tomorrow but I know probably close to half are cooldown rides cause I do one almost every time I ride.
