I get a weird sense of security when both my vehicles are in the garage. And I've found that when one is in the driveway, my wife will say "oh is it supposed to rain?" As a reason for parking in the garage.

Not sure about stats, but in TX I'm much more concerned with the heat.

Do yall have that extra added sense of comfort when it's 100 and your babies are shaded? Or am I a weirdo?

UV is the biggest destroyer of materials. The heat is likely more damaging than the rain. At least to your interior.

Both? About to pick up our 2023 Expedition today after $5500 in damage from a minor hail storm.

The sun destroys all things, living or not. I hate how bad things get destroyed by UV radiation.

Agreed. We made the garage slightly larger to fit the truck. I see neighbors keeping their nice trucks in the driveway. Breaks my heart

A car from the Pacific Northwest will age way less than one in TX. The heat destroys all things plastic, rubber, and paint.

I'm in a desert-ish environment. So the sun is brutal. I apply a paint sealer/UV protectant 1 or 2 times a year.

But one thing I've wondered is if leaving a layer of dust/sand on the car helps protect it from the UV rays a little bit.

If you cover your vehicle in mud, it will protect you from being seen by the predator

Interior? Yes. Undercarriage? No.

Also works to cover the vehicle in human guts in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Maybe something to keep in a Yeti in the back just in case.
