Dallas is a "sedan city"? That's weird because I see a ton of SUV's.

You know what I mean.

At this point I don't think you know what you mean.

But if the sedan city wants a sedan they can still choose the best selling luxury sedan in the country from… Lexus.

Considering both options, what did you like about the LC over the GX?

We haven't pulled the trigger yet. We are comparing a LandCruiser with the Premium Package versus the GX Overtrail Plus trim level. I believe that is the trim level that has comparable trim and off-road capabilities (even though it will rarely leave the pavement).

First thing is the price. About a $10-$15k premium for the GX. We both also preferred the interior and exterior styling of the LC over the GX.

She test drove both of them and I rode as a passenger. She liked the handling of the LC MUCH better than the GX. I can't remember if the GX is physically much bigger than the LC, but she said it felt a lot bigger when driving it. The experience for me as a passenger was about the same.

Another large factor is that the LandCruiser can be available immediately, whereas we were told the GX would be 9-12 months to get one in the color combo and trim package we wanted.

GX and LC are the same platform and exact same wheelbase. Dimensions aren't identical but are very very close.

We test drove the TX and the Land Cruiser yesterday. The difference felt like driving a car vs a truck / Tahoe. Think we're leaning towards the LC or the GX. The pricing regardless of all 3 is insane

We are trying to decide between the LC, 4Runner, and GX for my wife. She hates the look of the TX. Test drove all 3 and she liked the LC the most. I've been driving a GX460 for about 7 years and I was really pushing her towards the new GX, but after being in them, I also preferred the LC. I wish they would have gone with a different engine choice, though.

Yes, pricing is ridiculous....

After driving the LC I asked the guy what the specs / price of the vehicle was - his mgr comes out with a sheet that said 88k out the door. I laughed out loud and said I would offer 55k. He laughed and then we both laughed at how insane our numbers were. He said he thinks he could do the deal at 70k (drop in 18k makes me sad for all the folks that believe this crap). Regardless, I think the LC can be had at the low - mid 60s. If it's in the 70s, mine as well get the gx550.

I think we will either land on one of those 2 models, but open to trying the mdx as well (but think that will feel more like the tx).

We were able to negotiate a Landcruiser with premium package down to about 67k +TTL. The GX was just over $80k on paper, but they wouldn't commit to a price. They said we would pay whatever the cost is when it arrives 9-12 months after placing the order.

Recently test drove the LC. It's a really good looking vehicle and drove decent enough but it was so expensive I didn't even really entertain it past the test drive.

Give me one of these with a manual swap and we're in "shut up and take my money!" territory. Every now and then the thought crosses my mind that if something happened to my TSX I'd have to replace it, and that wouldn't be easy. I've hated driving every crossover and SUV that I've been in, want to keep driving a manual while avoiding annoying infotainment systems.

save yourself $10,000 (at least) and go drive the Grand Highlander. It's the same SUV.

Sorta. But the difference in cost between a loaded GH isn't $10 grand when you are on the lot, and the Lexus is still nicer, and the dealership experience is way better. We just bought an RX for the wife and after December discounts, it was maybe $5k more than a Highlander.

I will say dealership experience matters. We got spoiled with Sewell Lexus / Cadillac in Dallas. I miss them.

I had to use the GM dealership once down here in Corpus and that experience was...not great. Carmax has a better experience which is kind of sad.

I am in the process of buying a car and going Lexus instead of Toyota largely so that I can go to Sewell instead of the chaos of Toyota of Richardson/Dallas etc

this makes me sick. Most likely getting the wife a gx this year when it comes in (on the list now waiting). I really want the LC instead because I much prefer the interior, but she wants 3 rows.

Yeah, I assume pricing won't change much, but you never know and there is such high demand that I'm guessing they won't be willing to negotiate the price.

I ordered a Tesla Model Y back in late 2021. It arrived in July 2022. Over that 9-month period, the cost of the vehicle went up about $9k. To my surprise, Tesla honored the price the vehicle was when I ordered it. I was shocked. However, buying that Tesla ended up being a horrible financial decision. It worked well for our driving habits and had cool technology, but it was in the shop more than any vehicle we ever owned and it's value dropped like a rock. We sold it a few months ago. After 3 1/2 years and 20k miles, it had a 60% drop in value.

Lack of a 3rd row option is a negative for the LC, but we just don't need it anymore since my kids are older and are all driving themselves now for the most part. The 3rd row in my '17 GX is a nice to have, but we've only used it maybe a dozen times in the 7 years I've owned it so it stays down for the most part

Longo Toyota in Prosper is really nice if you don't mind a little drive.

Wow I'm surprised you had so many problems with it. My 2023 Y has 60k miles and 0 problems.
